My husband and I hired Attorney Joanne Leifheit after hearing her estate planning presentation at a seminar planned by our credit union. We hired her because of her professionalism, easy to relate to style and her kind and compassionate demeanor. Upon our initial in-office consultation regarding estate planning, we knew Atty. Leifheit was the attorney for us. She listened very carefully to our estate planning goals and personal situations and made recommendations along the way that would best fulfill our needs. I can see where estate planning could be overwhelming, but Atty. Leifheit and her professional staff took the burden off of us and simplified the process with an easy check list of what documents we needed to gather from our personal and financial accounts. They prepared all legal documents and explained them thoroughly to us. We were never hurried or rushed in their office. They took their time until we understood all legal documents and answered all of our questions. Atty. Leifheit really went the extra mile to clarify things and make sure those details were documented. She is extremely thorough. We felt as though our estate planning needs were of the utmost importance to Atty. Leifheit and her incredible staff. If we had known the estate planning process could be done with such ease.... we would have (and we should have) done it years ago!

I really like her Pie presentations. It helped me make the decision to go with her. Once we went with her it to set up our estate her office was very professional and efficient. We gave them the information about our estate and they prepared all the paperwork for us to sign, made packets for us to go to the banks with, and filled a binder with our estate paperwork.

My husband and I hired Attorney Leifheit to review our trust when we learned the attorney from another firm who prepared it was under investigation by the FBI for fraud. That attorney has been convicted and will serve four years in prison.
We were shaken to learn that perhaps our trust was not appropriately prepared. It also shook our confidence in attorneys. But Joanne reviewed it, made recommendations on it and returned our confidence that it would now be what we requested and legal.
We also have had Joanne work with us on the estate of our only child, our son. He died unexpectedly and that has been devastating. Joanne has been compassionate, as is her staff, on working through the many legal details to finalize his estate. We could not have done it without her expertise and genuine concern.
We have recommended Joanne to others and will continue to take our legal issues to her in the future.

I have worked in the geriatric field as a consultant finding resources for seniors and their families for a good number of years. I am the parent of a special needs child and have had the privilege to have served as an advocate for several others. I have interviewed many attorneys through the years as it relates to Estate Planning, Medicaid, and Special Needs Trusts. I found Joanne to be in the top tier due to her in-depth knowledge and how much she cares that her clients get the best outcomes possible for their specific situations. I would refer her, without hesitation, to any family in need of her services!

I hired Joanne Leifheit's firm to aid in getting Title 19 set up for my mother. Her firm was professional, timely and answered all our questions. They helped inform us on what the procedure would be as well as "walk us through" the lengthy process. We met every deadline set by the State. They were extremely helpful and I would recommend this firm to everyone. They were also willing to meet us offsite. They did an excellent job and very professional.

We have used Joanne and her team three times on various elder law and estate planning matters. We love the free info session she runs a few times a month. It was helpful for us to understand the different kinds of trusts, etc., and helped us be better educated when we started asking specific questions. I feel that Joanne always gave us options, and helped us understand the trade-offs and implications of each.
Joanne helped my family make sure all of the needed powers of attorney and related documents were in place when my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She and her staff were kind, compassionate, and worked with my dad in a relaxed, un-rushed way. She was thorough, patient, and quick. After dad passed away, she helped us work through the process of getting the right paperwork to the county, the insurance companies, etc., making a difficult time much easier.
She also helped my step-mom (in her 80's) update her will, advanced directive, powers of attorney, etc. Again, she was caring, compassionate, and easy to work with. My step mom felt cared about and well taken care of.
Finally, my wife and I had Joanne help us with setting up a trust, as well as updating our powers of attorney, wills, etc. They covered all of the details, made sure everything was done correctly, filed all of the documents as needed and made the process as simple as possible.
Our appointments have always been on time, and she has always been prepared for our visits. I felt that in all cases the charges were very fair, and she didn't "nickel and dime" us on any of the little things - they were just included in the quoted price.
We recommend Joanne and her team highly. We will not hesitate to use her services again when needed.

She was hired primarily for advice, communication, and to schedule, as well as oversee monthly meetings to make regular progress towards closing an estate.
Over the course of about eight months, the pattern of communication from her has been similar.
I would call and leave several messages asking to call me. No response for several weeks. Then I would send emails with questions and several weeks would go by without a response. Finally, I would send a snail mail letter and several weeks would pass without a response. After another several weeks I would get a response. The response would usually blame me for being difficult to work with and not completely answer my original questions.
For most of March and April, I could get no response to my questions other than "its tax time and we are too busy to answer you".
Only two meetings were scheduled over seven months. A court date had to be re-scheduled. Documents presented for review or signature seemed to most often be at the last minute. Progress on liquidating assets was very slow.
Frequently out of the office for a week at a time, which is not a problem, except that when she returns, her busy schedule makes her mostly unavailable for even longer.
The estate checking account had plenty of money in it and there were no pending claims or creditors. Reimbursement for a funeral took nine months after approval to pay and other personal representative expenses remained un-reimbursed.
After eight months, I felt it was necessary to hire a different attorney, to communicate with this attorney, in hopes of making progress towards closing the estate.
This new attorney has done a terrific job and when I write her review, it will be extremely positive.

I became familiar with Joanne through my work in an agency that serves seniors. Her expertise in estate planning and advanced directives greatly impressed me. I felt confident referring my elder parent to Joanne because of her caring approach, her ability to patiently listen, & her skill for explaining options in understandable terms. She was extremely helpful. I have also referred a good friend and her parent to Joanne for the very same reasons.
