More than a five star mediator

Judge Van De Water is an effective and assertive diplomat who uses finesse and decorum to get the job done. She is a good read of people's character and therefore knows what style to use in order to attain solutions that are acceptable to both parties. Without Judge Van De Water's expertise, ...I am certain my former spouse and I would have continued to go around in circles trying to figure out how to disentangle our lives from each other. I have the utmost respect for Judge Van De Water and highly recommend her services/expertise to anyone who needs mediation. A satisfied client, Karen

Won't use anyone else!

I had my first experience as a family law attorney with Judge Van de Water in a court ordered mediation. I will use her on my cases for all future mediations. She came prepared, having reviewed everything she could about the case. It was one of the most high conflict cases I've had, and Judge Van ...de Water was able to take a case that I thought was certainly headed to trial and used her common sense, out-side-the-box, and compassionate approach to help the parties ultimately find a resolution that avoided the trial. Often times parties just want to be heard, and Judge Van de Water takes the time to listen and uses that to find the solution that fits best with both parties' priorities and needs. Like I said, I was so impressed that I will use her for all future mediations. I highly recommend her, particularly for those tough cases.

Avoided going to court and settled a nasty real estate mess!

We bought a house and had an issue with the prior owners not disclosing an in-ground pool that was covered up! We filed a lawsuit and hired an attorney, but had to give them a large retainer which still wouldn't cover a court trial. We were at the end of our rope and wanted to resolve the case withou...t spending a fortune to do so. We were told about Judge Linda and mediation. Frankly my wife and I were skeptical that mediation would work and would be a waste of time and more money, but we spent the day in mediation and actually got a resolution that we were happy with for a lot less money than going to court and having a trial! I was so happy we mediated and I'm pleasantly surprised that it worked. It was the best advice and decision we could have made. I totally believe in mediation with Judge Linda and she convinced me she can resolve even complex cases with a lot of heated emotions from both sides! Thank you for saving us money and getting us peace of mind and closure for our case!

"I know Linda Van De Water professionally and personally. While serving the citizens of Waukesha County as a Judge, she was fair, had a thorough knowledge of the law and had sensible rulings on the cases before her. She now uses her broad experience to assist attorneys and clients in resolving family disputes. I have utilized her services on several occasions, each time obtaining a settlement which saved my client time, money and the emotional turmoil of a trial. I strongly urge others to have Linda Van De Water help them out in their family matters."

"I became acquainted with Judge Van De Water during the years that she was serving as a Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge. I had many cases before her and I always found her to be informed on the issues, helpful in moving cases to resolution and easy to work with. This has continued in her work in the field of Mediation. In all of the cases that I have mediated with her, she was instrumental in solving difficult problems and arriving at a successful conclusion. All of my clients were put at ease by her easy going personality. At the same time, her experience from her time on the bench added great weight to her advice in the negotiation process. She is an excellent Mediator and I heartily endorse her."

"I endorse this lawyer. Judge Linda has recently retired as Circuit Court Judge from Waukesha. Part of the reason that she as effective as a family court judge was her ability to get into a case, analyze the facts, analyze the law and help the attorneys work through alternate strategies to come up with a solution that in most cases did away with the need for a lengthy, dirty expensive trial. As a mediator she has taken those same skills to the settlement room and has the ability to skillfully and tactfully help the parties to an amicable settlement, again getting rid of the need for a trial that will not only cost more money, but will leave the parties as bitter enemies."

"I have had the pleasure of appearing before Judge Van de Water on numerous family law cases. Already a capable jurist, both her experience and personality are well suited to mediation. If you are seeking to avoid the pitfalls of litigation you are already on the right track and with Linda you will be in good hands."

"I practiced before Judge VandeWater in both Juvenile and Family Courts while she was on the bench. Even then, she would lend insight and feedback to Counsel to assist them in resolving cases without litigation. She was able to provide feedback to the parties, while treating them with respect. Her sense of humor set the litigants at ease so they were more receptive to settlement. These traits have transferred over very well to mediation. Often, many former judges treat mediation as informally ruling from the bench. That is not the purpose of mediation. The mediator needs to facilitate an agreement, not make decisions. She is able to remove the judge's robe so as to be able to empathize with the litigants' unique situations so as to allow them to reach a win win resolution. In family court, litigation is a lose-lose situation. I highly recommend her."
