#1 recommendation

My spouse and I are glad to have her to discuss about our divorce. There was no mess & fight, and Linda made our divorce papers in one day! (Actually in 7 hours!) What we needed to is to make copies and submit them to the court. Done! I had heard "a divorce is too long & miserable...." but with her,... it never happened! During the discussion, she was very neutral and listened to both of us carefully and gave us reasonable advices. I definitely recommend het. You wouldn't get nervous in front of her, rather she would make you to talk your opinion comfortably.

Immensely helpful divorce mediator

Divorce is painful. There's no two ways about it. But utilizing Linda instead of hiring two attorneys was a great decision. My ex and I both had pre-conceived ideas of what we wanted our marriage settlement agreement to look like and Linda was a patient teacher, enlightening us multiple times we may ...not be expecting reasonable outcomes. We were surprised by the complexity of our case. Even our presiding judge commented on how complex our case was and thanked us for having it so neatly prepared and easy to read and understand. He commented on how thorough our documentation and agreement was. Linda was an indispensable asset to us due to her unique expertise and experience, offering us solutions and perspectives we would not have considered. She was even able to break down confusion into simple terms, easier to understand. Especially helpful was her teaching us how the law and court could affect us in the future in ways we could not have possibly conceived. Perhaps her most valuable quality was the ability to bring 2 people with 2 very different ideas, together in the middle, to compromise. At first we had no idea how far from reality our expectations were, and she enabled us to both get grounded with an amicable resolution we could both agree on. It meant we both had to adjust our expectations and once we did we ended up with something we could both live with for our future.

Thank you so much. I am so happy I was able to make the divorce process understandable and to be able to explain the issues and options so you both could work out a peaceful resolution and agreement for your divorce. It is amazing how well mediation works when you sit down together and spend the day discussing your issues together while keeping things civil. Good luck to you both.

Done in a day!

While I wish I never had to contact Judge Linda, she clearly has experience in the field. There were a few times my wife and I struggled to come to terms on things, and Linda helped find a solution. Cheaper and "nicer" than having to go through one or most likely two lawyers.

I am glad to help you both find resolution and closure. It sounds like the experience was less painful than going to trial or back and forth in court with lawyers and that's exactly what mediation is supposed to be. It is "nicer" and I completely understand that the process is still very emotional and difficult, but at least you were able to spend less time and money not going to court which also keeps the stress and anxiety levels down so you can get an amicable agreement and move on with your lives. Glad to help.

"I know Linda Van De Water professionally and personally. While serving the citizens of Waukesha County as a Judge, she was fair, had a thorough knowledge of the law and had sensible rulings on the cases before her. She now uses her broad experience to assist attorneys and clients in resolving family disputes. I have utilized her services on several occasions, each time obtaining a settlement which saved my client time, money and the emotional turmoil of a trial. I strongly urge others to have Linda Van De Water help them out in their family matters."

"I became acquainted with Judge Van De Water during the years that she was serving as a Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge. I had many cases before her and I always found her to be informed on the issues, helpful in moving cases to resolution and easy to work with. This has continued in her work in the field of Mediation. In all of the cases that I have mediated with her, she was instrumental in solving difficult problems and arriving at a successful conclusion. All of my clients were put at ease by her easy going personality. At the same time, her experience from her time on the bench added great weight to her advice in the negotiation process. She is an excellent Mediator and I heartily endorse her."

"I endorse this lawyer. Judge Linda has recently retired as Circuit Court Judge from Waukesha. Part of the reason that she as effective as a family court judge was her ability to get into a case, analyze the facts, analyze the law and help the attorneys work through alternate strategies to come up with a solution that in most cases did away with the need for a lengthy, dirty expensive trial. As a mediator she has taken those same skills to the settlement room and has the ability to skillfully and tactfully help the parties to an amicable settlement, again getting rid of the need for a trial that will not only cost more money, but will leave the parties as bitter enemies."

"I practiced before Judge VandeWater in both Juvenile and Family Courts while she was on the bench. Even then, she would lend insight and feedback to Counsel to assist them in resolving cases without litigation. She was able to provide feedback to the parties, while treating them with respect. Her sense of humor set the litigants at ease so they were more receptive to settlement. These traits have transferred over very well to mediation. Often, many former judges treat mediation as informally ruling from the bench. That is not the purpose of mediation. The mediator needs to facilitate an agreement, not make decisions. She is able to remove the judge's robe so as to be able to empathize with the litigants' unique situations so as to allow them to reach a win win resolution. In family court, litigation is a lose-lose situation. I highly recommend her."
