Timothy Mcdonnell White

After practicing law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Tim returned to Michigan and joined Smith Haughey’s Traverse City office.  Tim focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, trusts, taxation, business law and agribusiness (including equine law).

Tim works with the owners of family and closely held businesses, corporate executives, professionals, and other successful individuals and families, as well as their other advisors to develop and implement plans to meet the clients’ business succession, wealth transfer, retirement, asset protection and estate planning goals.

He also represents executors, trustees and other fiduciaries responsible for the administering estates, trusts, or a principal’s financial resources. Tim has significant experience advising clients on the administration of estates which hold or operate a business.

In addition, Tim also practices in the areas of business law and agribusiness, including representing businesses, professionals, and owners in the equine industry.  In contrast to many attorneys in this area, Tim’s focus is to be proactive, reduce risk and protect clients before problems arise. This includes prudent planning, strong contracts, and practical advice to avoid conflict.

Tim lives in Traverse City with his wife, Susy, and their three children.  Tim is an avid runner, enjoys outdoor activities and sports of all kinds, and spends most evenings reading to his kids.
