Jesse Latta Williams

This past year we required council from Jesse L. Williams for a legal matter. We would like to comment on the quality of service Mr. Williams provided for our daughter. Jesse displayed superior knowledge in reviewing details of the case and in his thinking "outside the box." As a result, our daugh...ter obtained a positive disposition in which her sentence was substantially reduced from the original charges. Throughout the process, Jesse demonstrated professionalism, competency, compassion, and availability whenever needed. His commitment to seeing our daughter get the best defense was always evident. We strongly recommend him with the highest regard and without reservation - he's simply the best!

I would like to thank Jesse Williams for the outstanding job he did representing me in my medical marijuana case. I was initially charged with a felony which he got reduced to a misdemeanor. And at my sentencing where Mr. Williams presented his motion I was fined and virtually set free. The motion wa...s so well reasoned and clearly laid out that the judge felt it necessary to sentence me this way. Otherwise he would have had to set a precedent he was not ready to put his name on, allowing a patient to medicate with marijuana while on probation. I am not a lawyer, but I read the motion and I believe that the judge was convinced that taking away my medication would have been wrong on the six different counts cited, my favorite of which is that it is illogical for rehabilitative purposes to prohibit me from possessing and using marijuana during my probationary term because it would not serve to rehabilitate me in any manner. During the hearing, the judge complimented Mr. Williams on his very thorough motion. Mr. Williams had done extensive research on a case from Macomb County which the judge found to be useful and instructive to the case, especially on the way he related it to mine. Medical marijuana cases continue to plague our court system and Mr. Williams is there to help clients wade through the mess.

I was charged with an OWI, high BAC, in Petoskey in November of 2014. I live downstate, and was referred to Jesse by a highly regarded lawyer in my area. With this being my second offense, and having a bond violation, I was possibly facing a short amount of jail time. Jesse was thorough in his exp...ectations, and prepared me for the worst case scenario. He set it up so that I could do my pretrial and sentencing in the same day, saving me an extra trip up north. Jesse ended up doing a plea for me, and I walked away with 6 months probation through mail, and 24 hours of community service. I couldn't have been happier with the results. I must also mention that Jesse had a sudden injury that was possibly going to prevent him from appearing at my court date, but he went above and beyond to make it there to represent me. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in my situation. He is knowledgable, helpful and worth every penny!

My son was pulled over on I-75 this past Summer for alleged speeding and ended up being charged for possession of marijuana brownies. We hired Jesse to represent him. Jesse gave good advice and guidance throughout the process. He is an expert in the field of marijuana laws. My son ended up with a ...misdemeanor charge of improper transportation, no probation, and minimal fines. Hopefully, this can be expunged in five years. We were expecting worse, as my son did not comply 100% with is court ordered random drug testing. I attended my son's final dispostion and witnessed several cases that went ahead of us, all being represented by the public defenders. Those very similar cases did not fare as well, and made me glad that we made the decision to hire Jesse. I would highly recommend him.

Jesse Williams was well versed in the laws that affected my case. He was happy to discuss the different options I had and was willing to take the time to explain the likely outcome of each. While in court, he was very professional and kept me calm and informed of the happenings. The results he obtain...ed for me, far exceeded my expectations.
