Disastrous representation

Retained Attorney James Kraayeveld to take care of post-judgment family law matters and every aspect of his representation was disastrous! Representation was a complete hack job! In my opinion and case, Jim has clearly demonstrated to myself the client, and before the Court at hearings that he has at... best, a very limited knowledge of basic family law principles and procedures. Completely unprepared and unable to put forth a substantive argument before the Court on multiple occasions, and each time was handed his backside by opposing counsel and the Judge. To be dispatched on his way. I was embarrassed in Court to have Attorney Kraayeveld representing me given the atrocious performance and felt that the best interests of the children were not his primary concern or focus. Only billable hours ( $440/hr) and lining his pockets are clearly what matter to him. He accepts ZERO accountability for his unpreparedness, his lack of attention to details, absolute failures, and is very braggadocious about his legal prowess. Zero legal prowess was demonstrated throughout the proceedings. You can talk the talk, but your actions and ineptness will fail you every time. Contacting the "Office Manager" is futile when trying to resolve an issue or concern. Jim will not speak to you directly either to hear your concerns or questions regarding your case. Professional organizations are out there to help if you feel you have been wronged through representation. My experience with Kraayeveld Law Offices or any other associated entity is highly unfavorable.

We are sorry to see that you anonymously posted a complaint about your experience with my representation of you in court. I can assure you or any other client that I am well prepared for each hearing. Unfortunately, you do not explain why you believe that I have limited knowledge of Michigan law. I am quite confident that after 30+ years of practicing family law, I know Michigan law very well, and sometimes it's difficult for clients to hear my honest assessment of their case. If that was your situation, I believe that you are best served by another attorney who will just earn a fee without providing an honest assessment of your situation. Again, I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy and wish you all the best with your legal endeavors.

Unfortunately, I can't truthfully say one good thing about my experience not only with Jim, but his entire Kraayeveld Law Frim. I hired Jim to help clean up some loose ends that my original attorney made some errors on ~ 1 year after my divorce was finalized. I experienced everything from inaccurate ...child tax credit info in which the Kraayeveld law frim would still try to invoice me for or like when Jim was texting the morning of our hearing with settlement numbers which the entire time I thought were from my ex-wife, but were number from Jim as to where he thought we could possibly settle before the hearing started which he didn't even acknowledge after the hearing to his firm cashing one of my checks for more than what I made the check out for, but then they thought nothing to charge me on my next invoice for their time to fix their check mishap. yes, I was very disappointed in the outcome of my case, but as a fairly successful business man over the past 35 years, I watch Jim & his staff no set the right expectation's of outcome of the hearing which resulted in Jim not being prepared at al during the hearing when it started to go a different direction. I watch Jim literally freeze in front of the Judge because he wasn't prepared and heaven for bid if you point that out to him which then you will pay the price of your questions being ignored and being over charged for any & every email conversation even the ones regarding them not chasing your checks correctly. In the end, I wrote check out for ~ 25 % of the final invoice and told Jim or take me to court if he wants to see one more dime out of me. They cashed my check for over $1,000 less than what the finale invoice was listed for since Jim knew that frim had made some huge mistakes and there was no way he was going win in court against all the documentation I had compiled on him & his staff. Please anyone who is reading this review of my experience with Jim & the Kraayeveld Law Frim is really think twice about hiring Jim especially at $400 per hour since I don't believe he is at all worth it. If you need a higher end divorce attorney then I would highly recommend Connie Thacker which I hate to say since Connie was my ex-wife attorney and she cleaned our clocks that is for sure which I saw firsthand that Jim was no match for Connie, but also the huge difference between high divorce priced attorney's.

Professional

Going through a divorce is not fun and is not easy. Jim was great at explaining everything up front and was very open and honest about what to expect. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Going through a stressful experience, it was great to have someone to lean on for advice and also for the help... of getting through the process.

Worth every penny!

Okay we all know lawyers are expensive and child custody cases are no exception and Jim is worth the sticker price. My custody battle was the most stressful and scariest time of my life but thanks to Jim and his wife I felt I was guided through each step. I was never surprised in the process, bes...t part was I didn't have to ask he proactively let me know what was going to happen. My questions/concerns were answered all in a timely manner, I honestly thought I was his only case but knew there were others. His research and time spent on my case outside the court room was beyond my expectations, he found things on the internet I didn't know about! I work in the tech field. Ive had to return 3 times since my case was done and one of those I didn't bring Jim with me, mistake. I've brought each time after and was very happy with my experience.

I like the fact that Jim can be compassionate towards his clients, but also aggressively and tenaciously advocate for them in a court of law. That’s a terrific combination! I have never had anyone tell me they were disappointed in Jim’s services. To the contrary, I have talked to many individuals over the years who were very pleased with the results obtained. I recommend Jim enthusiastically and without reservation!"
