Robert Scott Hackett

Hackett was a court appointed attorney and he represented our son. Hackett rarely returned calls, kept his voice mail box full so you couldn’t leave a message, constantly whined using very fowl language about how over worked he is. Finally we hired a new lawyer and Hackett wouldn’t work with that la...wyer to hand over the case. Instead he dragged everything out causing us more expenses. Do not hire this guy!!!

This lawyer I believe failed to represent me in any way for my DUI case. After contacting him and hiring him, he basically never spoke to me. Never assisted me at all or discussed anything. His paralegal would gather limited info and then I wouldn’t hear back. As time came for trial, my blood results... hadn’t shown up yet. Then suddenly, they appeared at the courthouse and Mr. Hackett just said something along the lines of “well the states attorney basically said you’re screwed, so I think you are and should plead guilty.” Foolishly I did. I was much younger then. Now that I look back, this “attorney” never reviewed my case or even took a moment to prepare a defense on my behalf. I believe he failed to do his duty and I highly recommend against hiring him for anything. I think Hackett didn’t even take the time to check and see what my BAC was before, and the court basically briefed him on the case at the start of the trial. This is how it felt. I spoke with two attorneys after the fact who were shocked in how Mr. Hackett handled this. Again, I highly recommend avoiding this lawyer at all costs if you want a true defense. Save your money and please guilty yourself.
