Brett R. Schlender

With 14 years of experience in Holland and West Michigan, Brett Schlender represents clients in divorce, custody, mediation, and related real-estate matters. He begins by clarifying goals and options—whether the path is collaborative, mediated, or contested—and then executes a plan aimed at efficient resolution and long-term stability. Educated at Hope College and Ohio Northern University College of Law (J.D.), Brett practiced at a large Grand Rapids firm before establishing a streamlined, boutique practice designed for responsiveness, clarity, and access. He favors principled persuasion over theatrics, while pressing decisively when the case demands it. Brett manages matters involving complex assets and multimillion-dollar estates, and has handled appellate work, including Smith v. Schafer (2023) and In re JPV Minor (2022). A West Michigan native, Brett now lives in Zeeland with his family.
