Would not recommend......

I hired this lawyer for a minor traffic ticket. I was charged $500 and was told it was dismissed only to find out later on the traffic ticket still shows up. Dowling doesn't care about the person he cares about the money and trying to get by. Tread with caution... I'm sure he probably doesn't screw e...veryone over, so just be careful.

This review is difficult to understand without more information or more accurate information. First, I would not have charged that high of an attorney fee ($500.00) for a "minor traffic ticket." Second, if it was a criminal traffic offense, it is unusual that it would have been entirely dismissed by the prosecutor. Third, if in fact it was dismissed, than the problem would have involved human error from the court clerk's office in recording or failing to record the dismissal in the county and/or state computer system. Had the client simply called me and informed me of the situation (if accurate), I would have corrected the error for him at no charge.

not good at all

gave him 2500 retainer for a criminal case he wanted another 2000 before he would do anything. I then decided to see another attorney for a second opinion. Refused to give me a copy or even go over my police report before i paid him in full. Doesn't care about you only wants your money. Also refu...sed to give me back any of my retainer when he only spent 4-5 hours on my case.

I was hired by this client's friend when the client was still in custody after his arrest for a drug charge. After obtaining the police report, doing research, talking to the prosecutor and the client, I learned that the charges were more serious than the client's friend originally thought. I informed the client that because his charges included a serious drug felony, as well as a felony firearm's offense, he would have to come to my office with an additional attorney fee and to review the police report and the facts of the case. He refused to bring the additional attorney fee and wanted me to mail the police report to him, which I refused to do. I received notice by mail from another local attorney that he had been hired to represent the client and on that day I hand delivered to that attorney's office the police report and other relevant documents. I also computed the hours I had spent on the case and sent by certified mail a refund of that portion of the original retainer that had not been expended.
