2017 has brought about many changes for me and my family.  Most notably was the unexpected loss of my job with Oakland County in January (which feels like just yesterday…can’t believe it’s been nine months!).  As far as my career goes, I grew-up working for Oakland County!  I started in September, 1997 at the age of 23 as a court clerk with one year of law school under my belt.  I finished law school as a part-time night student at U of D while working during the day, was hired in 2000 as a judicial staff attorney, and walked out the door for the last time on January 27, 2017, almost twenty years later!  I learned so much in those twenty years, and met so many wonderful people – people who have influenced and impacted my life in every way imaginable – there are no words to express my gratitude for the experience and opportunity that working for Oakland County offered!  I spent the winter, spring and summer as a stay-at-home mom…a first for me!  It has been such a blessing (initially in disguise) to have had the opportunity to devote all of my time and attention to my family and the running of our household.  I learned that even being home full-time there’s STILL not enough time in a day to accomplish all that managing a family of 7 entails.  It also affirmed for me that I need some degree of flexibility with my work schedule because the demands of our home and family truly require it and I owe it to them.  However, I miss working.  I miss the routine and predictability…I miss the interaction with people and the work that I do…and of course the financial stability.  The last nine months have been anything but easy, but this change needed to happen for many reasons.  It’s now time to move forward and begin a new journey!  I’ve never been so excited AND terrified at the same time, but I have to trust that this is the right journey for me at this point in my life personally and professionally.  It is with GREAT pleasure and enthusiasm to announce the opening of my own law practice…Amicable Divorce Solutions PLLC!  I am nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when making my social media announcement, but like having children, I had to ask myself…will I EVER REALLY be ready…and the answer is an unequivocal NO!  But, as one of my favorite sayings goes, “The secret to getting ahead is getting started” and I say it’s time to GET STARTED!  Amicable Divorce Solutions is a family law practice, with a primary focus on the FAMILY and not one specific individual.  What makes Amicable Divorce Solutions unique is my niche for pre-filing settlement…I’d like to have couples “divorced” before they ever set foot in a courthouse!  I will provide honest and accurate legal services with kindness, understanding and empathy, at a reasonable cost.  I will offer a sliding fee scale and work with any budget because divorce does NOT have to result in financial devastation.  My primary goal is to amicably resolve any contested issues the parties may have by dispelling with common misconceptions, providing information and education about divorce (the law and process), and by using informal mediation practices.  I will act as the parties’ legal and procedural guide through the divorce process, from the preparation and filing of the initial complaint to the preparation and filing of the final judgment, while at no time actually representing either party in the traditional sense.  I aim to be the COUNSELOR in the title Attorney and COUNSELOR at Law!  If you or anyone you know could use the services of Amicable Divorce Solutions, please give me a call!  My office is conveniently located less than 5 minutes from the Oakland County complex, at 2300 Dixie Highway, Suite 310, Waterford, MI  48328;; ;  Here’s to new beginnings!
