short tempered and defensive

Mr. Woodrow recently came to work for a firm I had been using for a few years to handle my landlord-tenant matters. I own 40 rental properties in 4 states so I am familiar with the type of law he is practicing. The firm went through some turnover of attorneys. Without my knowledge or consent, he... was assigned to. or chose to handle my legal matters, replacing another attorney with whom I had a good working relationship. Though a managing partner, he failed to provide adequate follow up, did not file cases in a timely fashion and his office lost proof of service on 2 suits making it difficult to take a suit to court. This caused me to lose quite a bit of time dealing with the incompetence, cost me money and required my personal involvement to ensure things moved forward. Due to a clerical error, one of my suits was thrown out. Woodrow got upset when told it was a result of delays in him signing and forwarding a complaint, he blew up, withdrew from a separate, unrelated case, which required me to retain other council in order to complete matters that were near resolution,. I find this immature and it needlessly caused further delays and added to my costs. He also decided to charge me nearly twice the hourly rate of the practice's previous attorney and did not notify me of his fees until hundreds of dollars of charges were billed. He did not request or obtain a retainer agreement. Very shady! I suggest finding someone who is more conscientious and more competent.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
