Biography
For the first fourteen years of his legal career, Derek Howard worked in Oakland County Circuit Court. In his role as Judicial Staff Attorney, Derek worked in widely varying areas of the law, including: business, complex commercial, class actions, mergers/acquisitions, contract, general civil, criminal, appellate, family, adoption, and juvenile delinquency.
Derek is professional, understanding, and compassionate and uses his extensive experience to help his business and individual clients achieve their goals as expeditiously and efficiently as possible.
Since 2007, Derek has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School - teaching three different legal research and writing classes.
Derek has also completed 48 hours of SCAO-approved general civil mediation training and serves as a facilitator/mediator.
Derek is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association. He is actively involved with the Business Court and Counsel Committee and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
