Immigration Attorney Manuela D. Policicchio has devoted herself to the practice of immigration law. Growing up in an immigrant family, Ms. Policicchio understands the challenges that immigrants face in this country. Ms. Policicchio graduated from DePaul University with a double major (Spanish and Women's Studies) and a minor (Latin American Studies) in 2004. In 2007, she graduated from Wayne State University School of Law. Ms. Policicchio, throughout her studies, always maintained a special focus on immigration law.
While in law school, Ms. Policicchio worked for Farmworker Legal Services in Bangor, Michigan, where she conducted outreach in agricultural labor camps and closely examined the abuses that migrant farmworkers encountered. Ms. Policicchio also interned for Freedom House in Detroit, Michigan, where she worked with asylum seekers to develop their asylum applications. She also was an intern for the Honorable Judge Edmunds for the Eastern District of Michigan.
In October 2008, Ms. Policicchio opened MDP Immigration Law, PLLC. Through her hard work and dedication, she has built a successful law firm specializing in family-based immigration law and removal defense. Specifically, in the realm of family-based immigration law, she handles family petitions, adjustment of status in the United States, consular processing abroad, affirmative asylum applications, U visas for victims of crimes, VAWA, citizenship, I-601 waivers of inadmissibility, I-601A provisional unlawful presence waivers, and deferred action. Moreover, she also defends her clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Courts by applying for cancellation of removal for permanent residents, cancellation of removal for nonpermanent residents, defensive asylum and withholding of removal, waivers in court, and adjustment of status.
Ms. Policicchio also provides pro bono consultations throughout Southwest Detroit. Over her nearly ten years in SW Detroit, she has the reputation of being very honest, straightforward, and creative.
Ms. Policicchio is not only an immigration attorney, but an advocate for immigrants. She has an enormous amount of enthusiasm for the practice of immigration law and a strong desire to assist her clientele, even when their immigration options may seem limited.
