Paul H. Belanger

I was born on September 9, 1946. I am married and have 2 children, 3 stepchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Family is very important to me. I am a faith-based person and this is a driving force in my life. Both of these factors heavily influence the manner in which I practice Law.

I graduated from a military school for high school in 1964. I received a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State University in 1969 and my JD from the University of Detroit in 1972. I attend many seminars, during the course of the year, in various areas of the law in order to update and sharpen my skills. I am also currently working on an Masters in Divinity from Luther Rice Seminary.

I was admitted to the bar in June of 1973 and have practiced in the Metropolitan Detroit area for all of my professional life, the majority being in the downriver area. Therefore, I am keenly aware of the issues facing people in the downriver area.

I am a member of the Family Law and Probate and Estate Planning sections of the State Bar of Michigan and a past member of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of the State of Michigan. I have also formerly served as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.

I am admitted to practice in all of the state Court, in the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and have practiced in hearings before many administrative agencies in the State.

I have served my community in the past with 4 years on our local School Board. I have been a member of both the Rotary and the Kiwanaas.
