Renee Sophia Coulter

Renee Sophia Coulter is a tax attorney with 2+ decades of previous professional experience serving clients across Michigan and Pennsylvania.  With over 27 years of experience guiding individuals, family offices and business owners through complex tax matters, estate planning, and regulatory compliance, Renee is also a CPA and has passed the Enrolled Agent (EA) exam with the IRS.

As a member of the Tax Group, Renee works with business owners, high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, family offices, and fiduciaries to deliver strategic legal and tax solutions tailored to unique goals.  The Tax Practice Group regularly advises client groups on tax compliance, estate and trust taxation, multi-state tax planning, and resolving IRS and state tax controversies.

Renee regularly advises clients in the set-up, organization and tax consequences of Pass-Through Entities (PTEs), including Partnerships and S-Corporations.  Renee has worked with entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, family offices and SMBs.  Renee also serves clients who are involved in the real estate industry, financial services industry, and the transportation & logistics industries.

Renee is very committed to public service and has been appointed by her peers to the State Bar of Michigan’s Standing Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law (2023-2025), and the District Committee on Character & Fitness for District H, where she has served as a Panelist and as a Panel Scribe.  Renee also acts in an advisory capacity to the PA Language Access Committee.  Her legal background is further strengthened by certifications in multiple eDiscovery platforms, including Relativity and LightHouse, and her vast experience supporting clients in complex regulatory investigations (both at the federal and state levels).
