Father of the client

Susan was a blessing, from the moment I contacted her she was very fair upfront and honest with me, and my family, she made the whole process easy on us, the case was dismissed, she went out her way to get this resolved as quickly as possible, she knew exactly how to handle the case, but was open to m...y suggestions and explained our options clearly, I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs a great lawyer.

She got the job done

Starting off with this case I was very nervous and scared. Me and my mom hired Susan and when we got to court and met her the first day she did a good job of talking to me and making me understand everything that was going on and what the charges and possible outcomes where. In my case I was trying t...o be eligible to get into the air force and I stressed to Susan how important this was to me and if there was anyway or route for me to still be eligible to go. Long story short she got the job done and I really felt like she did everything she could to help me in every way.

Couldn't have asked for Better Representation

About a year and a half ago I was visiting family for Thanksgiving, out of state (in Michigan) and had an awful situation happen and I really didn't know where to begin. I needed a criminal defense attorney and after doing as much research as I could I decided to put my trust in Susan. I can't be hap...pier with the choice I made. Not only did Susan achieve the best result I could've asked for but she was also very easy to get in touch with throughout the whole process. Her communication is second to none which I'm sure is why she is such a fantastic attorney. To anyone considering hiring her I can assure you it will be the right decision.

Outstanding Attorney

I had an accident in Washtenaw County in 1997, and with out my knowledge I was charged with a DUI. I had no Idea till 2018 when I was pulled over on a Friday night for driving on suspended license, and with a bench warrant issued as well. This was a total surprise to me as to I had renewed my license... 3 times since the accident. Not being familiar with how this could of happened, I decided to seek an Attorney. I had reached out to several that were listed on line. To my surprise Ms Longsworth returned my call on a Sunday! That was very impressive, she obviously sensed my stress level was very high. She listened to my situation asked several questions, and then proceeded to help put me at ease offering that any problems can be solved. We set a meeting at one of her offices. Our meeting was in 2 day from our phone conversation. To my surprise she had found the case # a rough outline of what the problem was. This was all before ever meeting or agreeing to retain her. Which of course I did. She went to work right away pulling records, and getting a copy of a 10 year old police report. Once she had the facts she offered up several options of how to proceed. She never promised me that it would be a walk in the park as I presumed it would be. She explained that the District Attorney rarely just dismissed this type of charge. I was of the opinion that this must be a mistake and of course they would just throw it out. Turns out the legal system is much more complex, and structured than I would of ever imaged. I was treated like a criminal from the first appearance forward. Thankfully I had Susan on my side. They tried to plea it away, change derestriction's, post pone court dates, anything to make it more difficult to straighten out this mess. Susan was great at keeping me calm, and comforting my aggravation that was ever growing. Finally we had gotten to the appearance that was to set the trial date. Susan was extremely prepared to defend, or counter any type of prosecution direction they chose to use. Obviously the prosecutor was aware of this. When it came time to move forward, andset a trial date, they declined to proceed. I have been told that D.A.'s rarely if ever dismiss DUI charges due to the seriousness of charge, and public safety. Thanks to Susan's representation, and her persistency of exposing the facts of the situation. The county was not able to take advantage of innocent citizen caught up complex misunderstanding. If you need help navigating the traps of law, I highly recommend retaining Susan Longsworth!

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I have know Susan for many years through her work as an assistant county prosecutor and later as a defense attorney. I was, at different times, working opposite her as a criminal defense attorney, along side her as the city prosecutor, and finally as a co-worker doing criminal defense working for the same firm. Susan is a very capable attorney; knowledgeable about the law, able to work well with clients, other attorneys, and judges. She is an effective communicator and at all times displays a professional demeanor. As a prosecutor I always believed that she was fair and honest in the cases I was defending. As a defense attorney she was able to relate well with the clients and able to form a good working relationship with them, something that is not always easy to do. She has a solid work ethic; was always prepared, punctual, and professional. I would not hesitate to hire Susan as my attorney, and l would strongly recommend her for a position with a criminal defense firm."
