I assist people in resolving their family law issues with dignity and respect for all parties involved. I have more than a decade of experience guiding people as they reorganize their families, and I am trained and comfortable using every popular method of dispute resolution. I am committed to being a leader in my field, and have been elected by my peers to lead the State Bar of Michigan's Family Law Section, the Washtenaw County Family Law Section, and to serve on the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board (Washtenaw County panel) and other bar organizations. Due to my enthuiasm, passion and dedication to excellence in family law, I am frequently asked to publish and speak on issues related to family law, and the Wayne State University Law Review currently relies on me to provide their annual analysis of Michigan Family Law. Because of my expertise, competency and commitment to my clients and the law, I am frequently hired by fellow attorneys and their clients to mediate or arbitrate their cases and find the challenge of helping parties to resolve different personal circumstances very rewarding. I am certified as an "Elder Mediator" and believe that mediation is a perfect vehicle to help families navigate through the difficult issues involved with aging.

Karen's work made a lifetime of difference for my daughter
Thanks to Karen's skill and caring, our settlement allows my daughter to maintain a relationship with her mother while having a secure place to call home. Outcomes like this may be a commonplace for you, but it will make a lifetime of difference for my daughter.
"I have known and worked with Karen for many years, and without question she is one of the most respected family law attorneys in Washtenaw County. She is tenacious, dedicated and extremely intelligent. Many clients have thanked me for referring them to Karen and her firm. Highly recommend her to anyone needing expert family law and mediation services."
"Karen is a dedicated advocate and a masterful mediator. She is able to see all perspectives and provide informed guidance not only to her clients, but in mediation as well."
"I've had the pleasure of mediating a number of family law cases with Karen, and strongly recommend her services. Our law firm regularly uses Karen for our most complex family law matters. Karen is very organized and cuts to the heart of the issues. This approach gets results, and has saved our clients a lot of money. I look forward to using her services in the future."
