I am a criminal defense lawyer and post-conviction advocate. Across the board and spanning more than 300 cases my results are genuinely more favorable to my clients than the vast majority of other attorneys. I am also hired from time to time to choose juries by other attorneys. I enjoy this work and take pride in the fact that I am good at a profession where the pressures of life and death consequences pervade every moment and every decision. This is the hardest area of the law to practice and I consider it an honor.
My rating on this site has been reduced for an owvi conviction in 2014. This conviction alone separate me from other defense attorneys. As you may have imagined that conviction was in fact born largely of my successes defending citizens from a police state. Make no mistake this rating is not indicative of an attorney's effectiveness and this website is a marketing tool for which the highest ratings are paid for. Contact me and you'll see the difference. Read some of the actual client reviews attached, whereas staged reviews on other attorneys sites are obvious.

Great to work with!
I contacted Matt Chaiken on very short notice. I was unexpectedly hit with a very serious legal matter. Matt was very pleasant and when asked to take my case, he took it without a second thought. Although, I'm still currently fighting for my innocence, I'm very confident that Matt Chaiken will do hi...

Great work
Initially I wasn't going to hire an attorney for my DUI case but I'm glad I went with Mr. Chaiken. My situation came out considerably better, now I'm able to continue working/driving and being productive.

Unlike any lawyer I had before.
I came to Matt Chaiken with a very worrisome problem. He not only took care of everything without my involvement but also kept me informed and feeling better about the whole thing every day. I was able to reach him at night which was amazing. I have never had a previous lawyer act like this. I will u...
