Daniel Garon only cares about the money and not effective representation due to being bought by City officials

I will file a grievance against Mr. Garon for violating the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct. I have all the evidence. On April 13, 2026, MIDC Executive Director, Ms. Kristen Staley stated via email that your office "has no ability to investigate attorney practices, as we are not part of the Mi...chigan judiciary." But her office tolerates or tacitly encourages practices that convict poor defendants, coerce them into plea agreements, and delay their right to a fair and speedy trial. That is exactly what is occurring under her oversight. For example Daniel N. Garon (Appointed February 5, 2026 – Withdrew April 16, 2026) Actions: On February 25, 2026, in his conference room at 12:45 pm, his assistant Gabriela Fassbender printed out my evidence obtained via FOIA from the City Records department (including dispatch recordings, lobby video, and etc). Mr. Garon only was concerned about the money and reviewed it but dismissed my defense, stating on record. I recorded him. Within 22 minutes of our conversation from 12:45 pm transcribed: Me: do you think this should go to trial Garon: "I can't imagine for the life of me spending 10 grand in attorney fees to try a case like this. This is stupid……. Me: the City is paying Garon: I understand that. It's going to take a whole lot of time & effort & energy to prosecute you.. Garon: What if they convict you? So they convict you, it's not like this judge is going to put you in jail." Me: they can't convict me based on lies, that's not right. Garon: Well I understand that . But the point is that it seems like a whole lot to do about nothing. So let me read this. You admit you have some mental illness. This the complaint you filed against the City…… Me: After that a couple months after that someone put some firecrackers by my window. I. I believe someone from the City did it. I filed a police report. He explicitly stated in an email on April 15, 2026 that he would not waste his time on a bench trial because I could not pay him, and that the prosecutor was drawing up a plea. While he backtracked on February 25 in his conference room and during a closed-door hearing on March 21, claiming he believed in my innocence, I forced his withdrawal on Thursday April 16 due to a complete breakdown of trust. He has a history of forcing Black defendants to plead guilty. 3. Deborah Gasperoni-Weihermueller (Temporary Appearance, April 16, 2026) Actions: She's one of Mr Garon Associates. She Stepped in temporarily and immediately attempted to force me to sign a plea agreement. She did so under the explicit instruction of the City Attorney —a prosecutor against whom I filed a formal grievance last year. Pattern: She has a repeated history of being sanctioned by the Attorney Grievance Commission, including multiple times in 2017 and most recently in 2025 for not representing poor people of color effectively See attached screenshot of her history of misconduct from the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission from 2017, 2025

Dan Garin helped me get my life back.

Dan Garon was recommended to me by a friend and I can’t say enough good things about this lawyer. If he has anything to work with at all, he will. Very happy with my choice in hiring him. He saved me and my family plenty of heartache and struggle. Thank you Dan the man

Treat you like sh*t and doesn't care about your case/ strictly money

Terrible experience with Dan Garon, upon arriving to speak about my case is the only time he showed any kind of concern/respect. Of course once the money was paid out all of that went out the window, Dan did ABSOLUTELY NO research and was no help to my case. He adjourned the first few court dates cla...iming we were waiting on evidence so that I would not have to pay $3200+ for false damages my ex claimed. First time I did show in court he sent his assistant instead and adjourned that court date as well claiming we were just going to see if she shows up and then go from there. I asked if she does show up then what? I was given a short barely any answer of "we'll see". Well my ex showed up and Dan finally shows up and when we speak he tells me I have to pay the $3200 and receive a misdemeanor?! (Mind you this is only for a cracked headlight), I asked Dan why are we settling when she has showed no evidence? He says we have the evidence/pics and guess what Dan shows me? The pics that I presented to him myself showing the damage my ex did to MY house and car!!! That was when I realized he does not pay attention at all, from there he basically just wanted me to pay the money out right then and there while telling me "You need to make up your F*cking mind"!? I literally had to get up and leave from his face because things were about to go left real quick, I had to repeatedly tell Dan watch how you speaking to me. After I told him about his self he responded like a little school girl saying "well now your raising your voice at me" as if I didn't have the right when you speaking to me crazy, didn't do a lick of research, passive aggressive demeanor etc. I had to keep expressing that I was on the last month of being on the "clean slate program" and this petty charge will set me back, Dan never remembered that even though I told him and his assistant multiple times. When I reminded him that he finally went and got a different deal where I pay the $3200 (still no evidence/never disputed the amount) and no charges, why would you not have presented that to me in the first place? Then when asked about payment he just kept saying they need it NOW, never pushed for a further date or anything until I had to keep going back and fourth with him, wanted to only give me a week but I asked for a month and was granted that. SO all in all if I left my case up to Dan I would be paying $3200+ and have a new misdemeanor for a broken headlight. Avoid this fool at all cost, I never gave a**hole energy or come off that way esp when I'm speaking with a lawyer so the way he handled business struck me awfully wrong, from the looks of these reviews though I'm not alone, seems like all the terrible reviews from this office is only coming from DAN

Excellent lawyer, trial attorney, and a good man

I was a defendant in a high profile medical marijuana case. After retaining two attorneys and things not working out with them I was in a situation where finances were no longer available and had to go with a court appointed counselor. Nearly two years and five attorneys later I was appointed Dan G...aron. Thank God. Mr. Garon was by far the most qualified, most experienced, most knowledgeable, and the most willing to go above and beyond. No "BS" from the start and always straight to the point. I wish I knew Dan Garon at the beginning of the case because things would have been handled entirely different and I would not have lost the time from my life as I did. Dan deserved the finances that were paid to my initial retained attorneys. He represented me the best out of all attorneys I had, and as a court appointed was obviously paid the least. Even after the trial was over Dan has still continued to fight for me. I trust Dan Garon and everything he suggested was always in my best interest. I should have listened to everything he had to say from the start and trusted everything he had to say. I will recommend anyone and everyone in need of a criminal defense attorney to Dan Garon for as long as he is practicing law.

Above and Beyond expectations

I had a case that typically costs individuals a large amount of money, classes, probation, etc... He was assigned to me as a court appointed attorney and I can tell you that this man cares about his work. He was able to get my case lowered to minimum charge possible (given the facts of the case he co...uldn't get me off) and with nothing else but an 800.00 fine. That may seem high but in comparison it could've been over 10,000 in the end and include probation, jail time, classes, community service, etc... Dan is the Man!
