My Experience: Communication Issues and Difficulty Retrieving My Client File

I am leaving this review based on my experience with this attorney, and office from the initial consultation through my most recent interaction. I initially contacted this attorney seeking legal guidance and provided information and documents related to my matter. Over time, I became concerned abo...ut communication, transparency, and access to my records. I had questions regarding my file and needed clarity regarding the handling of my documents and communications related to my matter. After deciding I needed to move forward and retrieve my documents, I attempted to obtain my file. I appeared at the office during posted business hours to retrieve my documents, but I was unable to receive them at that time. This created additional delays because I could not fully proceed with another attorney consultation without access to my records. I then made multiple written requests asking for my complete client file to be preserved and mailed, including a request for confirmation and tracking information. Instead of receiving confirmation that the file would be mailed, I received a response directing me to appear in person and stating that if I came without prior notice as they believed occurred previously, “the police will be called” and I would be “hauled off,” along with a statement that the file would be destroyed if I did not come in. I was also disappointed that my interaction was characterized as “agitated” and “hostile.” From my perspective, I was a client attempting to obtain my own documents and was frustrated after arriving to retrieve my file and leaving without it. Clients dealing with serious legal matters need clear communication, transparency, and timely access to their records. My experience did not meet those expectations. I encourage anyone considering this attorney to ask detailed questions about communication expectations, access to client files, and how documents will be handled if the attorney-client relationship ends. Based on my experience, I would recommend that anyone seeking legal representation carefully consider their options and look into other qualified attorneys who may better meet their expectations for communication, transparency, and client service.

Scammer

I hired Ken in November to represent us in a retaliation eviction case. At our first meeting, he appeared knowledgeable and confident. Unfortunately, after that initial meeting, his professionalism and competence declined significantly. Ken was frequently confused during phone calls, showed up 45 mi...nutes late to court, and failed to file an appearance. During the hearing, he appeared distracted, spent time on his phone, and did not advocate on our behalf. Right before we were expected to speak, he whispered a random date for the judge to consider — a date we never agreed to — and did so without explanation or consent. He also failed to present any supporting evidence we had, later stating that the judge “didn’t want to hear it,” despite us specifically asking him to do so. We were living in an uninhabitable home, which he was aware of since November, yet he took no meaningful action to address this or to move to dismiss the case. Most concerning, he made an inappropriate and unethical comment suggesting I spray paint my landlord’s car window and said to “tell them to prove it” if caught. This was alarming and completely unprofessional. In the end, we handled the appeal ourselves, and the judge stated there was no reason it should not be allowed — something Ken had claimed he would ask for but never did. I ultimately fired him due to lack of advocacy, preparation, and judgment. I cannot recommend Ken to anyone needing serious legal representation

Legal Professional

I had the privilege of hiring Mr. Demers to represent me as an owner/landlord vs my tenant. I would 100% recommend him immediately if you are seeking a professional who knows the law and the ways around and in the courtroom at 36th District court in Detroit Mi. He won my case in January 2025 and... the judge issued a judgement in my favor. Thanks again Mr. Demers.

Not Recommended

Not Recommended at all, very disorganized, don't have good communication skills, very scattered mind and forgetful , he charge you for the work he have not done and dishonest about how much he charges, will never deal with him again , he doesn't even deserve a star, my experience with him is very bad..., the case had been 6 months with him he didn't started yet. Don't deal with him
