I had a collection problem with a credit card company & they were trying to garnish my check so when that happened I thought I might need to file for bankruptcy but after contacting Kenneth D. He was able to settle my situation within 24 hours. I was able to get on a payment plan that I could afford and he was able to stop the harassing phone calls. I recommend Kenneth to anybody going through any financial situation with collections or bankruptcy.

I opened under the auspices under 6 Lakes Legal Services, PLLC inspired by the area I grew up in, which was known by locals as the 6 Lakes region because 6 lakes are found within a mile radius. While attending Detroit College of Law, I clerked for the City of Detroit Law Department where I took part in undertakings such as the tear down of the Hudson's Building and the bringing of Comerica Park and Ford Field to town. Upon my departure from Detroit College of Law in 1995, I set out to practice general litigation with Wayne County Legal Services then on to form Able Law Center which was located in Downtown Detroit. In 2006, I joined with Ronald Reginald Dixon to form Demers Dixon, PC, which specialized in all kinds of law including divorce, traffic, criminal defense law, bankrutpcy and debt management to name a few. Since the retirement of Mr. Dixon in 2015, I formed 6 Lakes Legal Services, PLLC with five locations in the greater Detroit area including Livonia, Novi, Southfield, Bloomfield Hills and Troy. As of this writing, 6 lakes has just had its 2nd birthday and we are set to enter the new year with a clear message to please see us today so you can enjoy a bright tomorrow.

Kenneth Demers was the perfect choice when it came to handling my case from beginning to end. He has plenty of experience in cases like mine and it went like clockwork just like he said it would. His staff was extremely friendly and helpful to me in following all steps needed through to completion. My family and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Mr. Demers is an expert in his field and I would recommend anyone. My Lawyers at 6 Lakes Legal Services are the best!

Debt Restructuring
Ken was very helpful in getting a debt restructuring plan put together for me ultimately leading to a chapter 13 filing. My plan was unique in that it required a 100% payback on debts claimed. Ken consulted with me on best practices & strategy in addressing a very delicate and stressful situation. Ken provided sound legal advice and guidance which ultimately led to my case being paid in full and discharged in a little over 3 years. I appreciated Ken's no nonsense approach and honesty through-out the entire process. I would highly recommend Ken to my family and friends.

Excellent Lawyer
I retained Ken for my bankruptcy almost a year ago and had no issue whatsoever going through the process, he walked me through every step. After my bankruptcy was filed and discharged I continued to receive hospital bills which should have been discharged in my bankruptcy and we're not, I contacted Ken and he took care of them without any issues. He has always been there for me ever since my bankruptcy and I will continue to use him in the future if need be (hoping to not need a lawyer) but he will be my first choice.

Karen was an exceptional client who took responsibility for her choices and took action. Also, under ruling in In re: Madaj, unlisted debts such as medical bills are discharged in a no asset case under the rubric "no harm, no foul", as Karen's hospital bills were.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy
I had never been thru bankruptcy before and Ken made it easy for me to understand and deal with. The process he used only took a couple of months. Now my credit is back on the right track .

Bankruptcy Filing
The legal services of Kenneth Demers were retained for the purpose of filing a bankruptcy.
This was a joint filing with a few complicating factors. Mr. Demers was straight forward and knowledgeable with regards to our issues and concerns. This allowed my wife and myself to make what we felt was the best decision in choosing the finical direction we wanted to and the outcome we were expecting.
We were always informed of all court appearances and required documents. Ken provided quick response to any concerns we had with changes and adjustments and handled all communication with the Trustee.
We are very pleased with all the services provided by the law office of Kenneth Demers and will retain his legal services if required in the future.
I would strongly recommend Mr Demers legal service to any one in the Metro-Detroit area seeking legal and finical advice.

A new beginning
As the situation was the worst it could be for me, Ken took control and made things happen when he said they would and took care of the situation I put myself in. So if not for a good lawyer he was i would still be struggling to find answers and solutions. I would have to say his knowledge and understanding of the law and the workings of the legal system were an asset in my favor. Yes i would have to say I would recommend him and the law firm he represents very highly!

Chapter 13 review
Ken guided us through a situation that was not easy to get through. A lot of sacrifices are needed to get through a chapter 13 bankruptcy and he made us believe and keep the faith.

Very Unprofessional and would Stay Away
Ken was hired to take care of our bankruptcy. Our experience was a clients worse nightmare.
1. Very unorganized - Ken would request the same information over and over again. Even in front of the trustee at our hearing, he was fumbling through papers and dropping things. I was so embarrassed!
2. Ineffective Communication - Simple yes or no questions were not answered. The returned response was vague, indirect and many times, did not even relate to our inquiry.
4. No Office - When we first met Ken, he had an office that was local to us. Within weeks, he moved from that office and began using rented office space that was much further away from our home. Location was one of the reasons why Ken was chosen.
5. Errors - We were charged to amend our plan due to an error that KEN MADE with a creditors address. There were multiple mistakes that Ken made due to lack of organization which resulted in our being charged for his time to correct his error.
6. Unethical and unprofessional - The verbiage and tone that Ken used when speaking and/or replying to our emails was completely unacceptable, unprofessional and many times I felt "strong handed" to do something at the time in which was most convenient to Ken.
7. No Legal Assistant - During most of our time spent dealing with Ken, there was not a legal assistant to help him. Therefore, we were charged the lawyer rate for many things that a legal assistant would do, such as make copies.
8. Accusations - When I began researching the bankruptcy process and made Ken aware of my knowledge, he accused me of speaking directly to the trustee or other people who, if were not of legal representation, were breaking the law by counseling me. Neither of which was accurate.
In the end, Ken gracefully dismissed himself from our case, but not before insulting me by saying I was being "hostile".
Our new lawyer has reviewed the work that Ken has done and agrees that it is in our best interest to leave him as a distant memory.

Response from Kenneth DemersAugust 27, 2016
1. The use of the word disorganized is very defamatory in this context as client's file was kept in immaculate order and meeting of creditors came off without a hitch.
2. The allegation of ineffective communication is also without merit. Complaining spouse insisted that she be the contact point with regard to processing requests for information because husband not very good at this. I had to continually request information client failed to provide on a timely basis in which client became increasingly resistant when they began hearing things they did not want to hear. Clients being advised that their budget shows additional income upon returning to work which will be brought into question, we were required to amend the budget again when client returned from medical leave while client was without paid time off. Clients requested a refund of plan payments and work began to motion the court for such a modification. When the time came to amend the budget to show current income, Spouse (complainant) refused to sign. I then withdrew from representation. Client also made reference to yes and no questions where legal analysis was required in answering in many cases and there may be no yes or no answers.
3. Paragraph missing.
4. I had moved my office to Southfield upon lease expiration of Clinton Township, Michigan office. Client first complained that if she knew I would move she would have gone somewhere else. I accommodated by saying I had several locations and even met for signing in our Bloomfield office at Square Lake and Woodward.
5. Spouse claims that plan was amended at her expense to change creditor address. This is completely false. Yes, debtor’s plan was amended, but for the reason that client failed to disclose a mortgage against their house. Under the applicable legal standard secured creditors must be treated in any plan for reorganization. Amendment was made to the plan and HUD was afforded treatment under the plan.
6. The allegation of being unethical and unprofessional is also very defamatory. Client sees public disparagement of an attorney who worked hard on her behalf as a way to redress her grievance. I have always toned down my comments in light of the increasing hostility and refusal to follow advice. I went overboard in advising client in the way she requested, which was by email. 7. No legal assistant: Client complained about charging attorney rates for non-legal work such as making copies because I had no assistant to do this. This is also untrue as my legal assistant took over when I wasn't getting information needed to continue case. In addition, no attorney or assistant charges to make copies as the making of copies is considered to be “overhead” by most courts. Most clients actually prefer that I engage in follow up in their cases. This client became overwhelmed by requests resulting in delayed responses and provision of documents and information to the extent the refusal of advice extremely prejudiced her case.
8. In client's accusation me of making accusations, client makes reference to some legal proposition in form of a statement which client made in an email. I had simply responded that she should not take advice from non-attorneys and for non-attorneys to give legal advice would be unauthorized practice of law. I had no knowledge of where she arrived at her stated conclusions of law.
