Thanks for nothing

My oldest Son was killed in a car wreck when his oldest child was 3. He had been married for 3 months to his youngest child's mother; the baby was born 3 months after his wreck. His wife sued the 2 joining counties for failing to have a guardrail up. I told him if my grandkids got any money I wanted ...it put into trust funds that could not be touched. That was not done; one is now 18 and her money + social security is gone. Spent on cruises and vacations. One is fourteen and her money is gone; spent by her mother and mothers boyfriends on drugs and alcohol. I am sure my Son would be thrilled that his death took care of a couple of ........ and their husband and boyfriends. He was only obligated to his children. Thanks for nothing.

I am sorry you are unhappy. As you note, the surviving wife was the guardian and trustee for the funds for the children. It was not my place to determine , for her, the best way to use the money she received. As you were not technically my client, she was, her instructions were what I was obliged to follow. Perhaps you have forgotten what a difficult case this was to pursue and obtain a result that provided any financial outcome. When you sue the government, you have a different standard you have to meet and we had to contend with a difficult claim of contributory negligence. But, I wish you well.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
