I am a Northwest Indiana native, and I have called Valparaiso my home since 2002. After graduating from Chesterton High School in 1998, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I was stationed throughout the world, and served his country filling billets as a non-commissioned officer in a variety of infantry and support roles from my primary duty station of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and I served abroad in such places as Okinawa, Japan, Po Hang and Seoul, Korea, Iwo Jima, the Philippines, East Timor, and Queensland, Australia. I was discharged honorably after receiving several medals and awards, including The Navy/Marine Corps Medal (of Heroism), The Navy Achievement Medal, The Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, The National Defense Medal, A Medal of Good Conduct, Letters of Commendation, Meritorious Masts, and several regular promotions. I retired as a Marine Corps Sergeant (E-5) after four (4) years of active, honorable service.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University in 2006 with the Cum Laude distinction in Political Science and Public Administration, and I attended law school at Valparaiso University. I received my law degree in May of 2009.
I currently represent various municipal units of government, including the Porter County Assessor, the LaPorte County Assessor, and the Porter and LaPorte County Property Tax Assessment Boards of Appeals (“PTABOA“), and advises other local government units throughout Northwest Indiana.
I also share an affinity for my fellow veterans, and I give back to those who have served. I am certified by the Veterans’ Administration as a Veterans’ Claims Attorney and I continue to serve veterans in their many needs and legal issues, and regularly assist veterans in many areas of the law regardless of their ability to pay.
I am licensed to practice law before all courts in the State of Indiana, including a license to appear before the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Indiana and the United States Federal Court for the Southern District of Indiana. I am a member of the American Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, thePorter County Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the American Inns of Court Porter County Chapter.
I maintain a general practice, and I am a well-rounded Indiana attorney. I serve my clients in the areas of municipal law, land use regulations, ordinance construction, contracts, real estate, and criminal defense.
