Biography
I have been practicing law since 1987, primarily in the consumer protection law field since 1991. For 16 years of that time, I was a staff attorney with UAW Legal Services Plans. In that position, I assisted auto workers, retirees and their families on a high volume of cases, in some years over 3,000 cases a year. I have been exposed to just about every consumer problem under the sun - at least I think so, until a new one comes up, and that makes life interesting.
Hot issues now include bottom feeder debt buyers suing consumers over old credit cards. The collectors below file most of the lawsuits in Indiana.

Consumer Protection??? Up Front and Honest with Steven Hofer
Mr. Hofer didn't tell me what I was hoping to hear, but he was quick to respond and to ask for information--on a Sunday, even! He spoke to me for awhile, long enough to make me feel "heard" and comfortable-- as opposed to the "I'm really busy; please hurry" atmosphere you find quite often these day...
