I can't say enough about how much we appreciate having had Nate in our corner for our adoption. Ours was a long, drawn out, contested kinship adoption, and Nate was compassionate, responsive, direct, and provided sound advice and guidance throughout the entire process. Even when it wasn't the news I ...was hoping to hear, he did a great job of helping me understand what to expect, and how we were going to navigate the hurdles. I think it's natural for well-wishing friends and family members to tell you to "think positive" or say "it's all going to work out in the end," but the reality is, even when you do all the right things, it may not end how you want. I'm happy to say our adoption was ultimately approved, but Nate never sugar-coated anything about the challenges with our particular case. He gave us hope, but also painted a clear picture of what we were in for, what all the legalese meant, and made sound recommendations that ultimately led us to a successful outcome. I value the direct access Nate provided. When I needed to get in touch, it was always him answering my call or responding to my email. For some reason, in my mind I expected there to be an assistant or a layer in between, or that I would have to leave a message and wait a couple days for a response, but that couldn't be further from my experience. Nate was a true partner and advocate for our family. He really knows his stuff.
