Stephen King was born in Roswell, New Mexico. Steve received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from Wright State University, and spent a decade working in the field of engineering. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer, and holds two U.S. Patents.
He received his law degree in 1996 from the University of Cincinnati, and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1996. Steve has argued before the First District Court of Appeals, the Twelfth District Court of Appeals, and the Ohio Supreme Court. In 2008, Mr. King was successful in his petition to the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of Grandparents that had been awarded custody of their grandson when he was 1 year old. The trial court returned custody to the parents when the child was 5 years old because the parents no longer exhibited the same behaviors that resulted in them losing custody. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that a change of circumstances in the child or the grandparents had to be proven before a Trial Court could even consider returning custody of the child back to the parents.

He always seemed quite disorganized and confused. I felt I was not very high on his priority list. Once my reta...

The Court of Appeals ruled that the Court lacked the jurisdiction to enter any further orders regarding Custodial accounts, and that the trial court was required to assess all costs and any reasonable attorney’s fees against Father.
Once the trial court determined that the jewelry in this case was neither marital property nor the separate property of either spouse, it did not have jurisdiction to dispose of the property or to order compensation for its value.
The First District concluded that the juvenile court erred by modifying the prior custody order because the record in this case does not evidence that a change in circumstances had occurred as required by statute.
The supreme court determined that the grant of legal custody to the grandparents was, by statute, "intended to be permanent in nature,"
The 12th District Court of Appeals agreed that the trial court did not err or abuse its discretion in finding appellant's annual income to be $116,018.64 for purposes of calculating appellant's child support and spousal support obligations.
The First District Court of Appeals held that the trial court acted outside its authority when imposing as part of her community control a condition prohibiting Burton from seeing her minor son, and vacated that portion of the sentence.
