Throughout her college career, Laurie participated in Debate, Model United Nations, Rotaract- as President of that club. After earning her undergraduate degree in Economics, Laurie developed the curriculum for and taught a Macro Economics course and a Parenting course at the University of Tennessee. During law school, Laurie interned at Hamilton County Prosecutor's office in the Children's Services Abuse/Neglect/Dependency division where she represented Job and Family Services regarding adjudication of parental rights.
