Peter Gregory Pattakos

Peter Pattakos is an experienced trial lawyer who has consistently obtained justice for his clients against powerful corporate and governmental interests in contentious disputes. He is one of the very few attorneys in Ohio or anywhere in the U.S.A. who has delivered winning closing arguments to juries both in multiple civil cases where more than $250, in damages were awarded, as well as in multiple felony prosecutions resulting in complete acquittals. His work has helped expose corrupt government officials and predatory and discriminatory business practices, and has led to significant developments in Ohio law providing for the protection of civil rights and employees’ rights in the workplace.

Peter began his legal career at the international law firm Jones Day, where he was part of successful representations of corporate clients in commercial contract and insurance-coverage disputes, securities, shareholder, and derivative litigation, antitrust litigation, product liability defense, and in investigations conducted by the Securities & Exchange Commission and the United States Department of Justice.

Since having left Jones Day, Peter has committed himself to helping ensure that people of ordinary means receive the same top-quality legal representation as the wealthy individuals and corporations that he began his career representing. This commitment has led to successful representations on behalf of a diverse group of clients, including a local media personality who was assaulted by an NFL player, an attorney in an employment dispute against a prominent Cleveland law firm, a young man who was falsely depicted as a “wanted fugitive” on a television program, a nanny who refused to participate in a child-sex-abuse cover up, citizens who were denied the right to vote, entrepreneurs who were wrongly frozen out of businesses they helped build, victims of police and other governmental misconduct, including families whose relatives have suffered needless and wrongful deaths while in state custody, and various other victims of legal malpractice, medical malpractice, and other reckless and negligent acts.

Peter is skilled in engaging with the media when necessary to expose matters of public interest and protect his clients’ reputations. And when it has become necessary to resolve his clients’ claims in court, he has achieved excellent results in jury trials, as noted above, as well as in arbitration proceedings, and courts of appeals.

Peter has been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers list for 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019, an honor conferred on no more than 5% of attorneys statewide, and he was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2016 and 2017.

Peter is a member of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Akron Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the William K. Thomas Inn of Court. He attended the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, where he was elected President of the Student Bar Association and graduated with honors for his research on constitutional law.
