Jason T. Lorenzon, Esq., has represented clients in immigration courts across the United States including; New York, Cleveland, Seattle, San Antonio, Newark, Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami-Chrome, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Memphis, Chicago, Buffalo, and Boston. He represents all clients with vigilance and within the bounds of the law. He has written many appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) for clients. He has filed many successful motions to reopen with the Immigration Courts and the BIA. Clients with final orders of removal or deportation have had their cases successfully reopened. Mr. Lorenzon regularly negotiates with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, and has been successful in acquiring deferred action for clients and persuading ICE to grant stays of deportation where our clients have final orders of deportation, have significant family ties and compelling reasons to remain in the United States.
Mr. Lorenzon’s passion is to help people achieve “the American Dream” and to keep families united. His desire to help others comes from his deep faith and many years serving the Roman Catholic Church as a Director of Music Ministry, prior to his career as a lawyer. Mr. Lorenzon is an immigrant himself, coming to the United States as a student on an F-1 visa in 1995, and his goal is to help others do the same. Mr. Lorenzon was a client of this firm and we helped him to successfully obtain his green card and United States’ citizenship in 2006. While Mr. Lorenzon was a successful church musician and international organ competition award winner when he came to this country, we are thrilled that he decided to use his talents to become a lawyer. After serving as senior attorney for a major law firm, Mr. Lorenzon decided to establish his own firm dedicated to personlized service to each client.
Mr. Lorenzon is a graduate of the Cleveland State University Marshall College of Law and his Bar admissions include the State of Ohio, State of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Ohio, Southern District of Florida and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. While he attended Cleveland State, he worked full time and was managing editor of the Journal of Law and Health. Prior to his legal career, he served for many years as Music Director of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Macedonia, Ohio and he is a licensed commercial pilot holding an instrument rating, multi-engine rating and instructor ratings (single, multi-engine and instrument). Today, he is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, a panel attorney for the Airplane Owner's and Pilot's Association, the American Bar Association, the Akron Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA) and the Catholic Lawyers Guild of the Diocese of Cleveland.
When he can, Mr. Lorenzon generously volunteers his services to the community, and was recently was honored for his work in foreclosure defense, when he received the “Volunteer of the Year for the Community Legal Services of Akron Award.” Additionally, in 2010, he was awarded the Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under for District 11 by the Ohio State Bar Foundation and he was named a Rising Star by Ohio Super Lawyers for the area of immigration for 2011. He serves on the Aviation Law Committee of the Florida Bar.
Finally, Mr. Lorenzon volunteers his time on the WAKR Radio 1590, Akron, Ohio Ask an Attorney Segment informing the public on issues in immigration law. The Ohio State Bar Association published an article of Mr. Lorenzon’s Non-Citizens Charged with Criminal Offenses Face Complex Laws, in their Law You Can Use series. Mr. Lorenzon has recently presented a CLE to the Akron Bar in 2010 called Immigration Consequences of Criminal Activity, outlining the recent Supreme Court case Padilla v. Kentucky and speaks regularly to church groups and the general public on immigration law.
