Review Lori Zocolo

As POA, I met with Lori for a second opinion before finalizing a divorce Settlement Agreement for my Disabled son. Lori was very convincing that the agreement needed to be fixed. What was suppose to be a fairly simple "Tweaking " of the original settlement agreement turned into Several Months of Lies, Useless Documents, Serious Emotional Stress and Thousands of Dollars in Bogus Billable Hours.
Her billing statements are Vague and open to Interpretation, Thousands of Dollars for "Review and Work on File" yet it took months to get a simple Motion filed after she Lied about filing it months before.
She Dragged out a simple divorce with No Kids and Minimal Assets just to keep Billable hours. Every time she would ask for another 5,000.00 Retainer , she'd say to me, " I have Staff Wages and On-going Office Expenses"

She's Not about doing what is "Best for her Client " , it's "Show me the Money"

  • Don't hire Lori Zocolo

Lori is not all she seems. Unless you are Catholic, she will not work for you. She is dishonest and will file motions that have no substance. Her total lack of knowledge regarding our case was awful. She had no clue what was going on in our case. She supported a mother who is cannot foster a relationship between a parent and a child. To this day, the child has suffered psychological abuse at the hands of the mother that she supported. If you hire Zocolo, fire her immediately. she is not worth the time of day. Lori did not return calls, would come up with lame excuses for why, even though we would leave messages for her. She never returned calls and then went into court claiming we never called her. She sent her secretary's daughters over to our house to do her work for her. She was supposed to come over and meet with us as part of an evaluation, and NEVER SHOWED UP! She then sent a email claiming she was there, but there were 4 people there waiting on her to verify that she showed up. In her email, it was clear that she did not show up, as she tried to cite things that simply were impossible. Her answers to anything tend to be very vague, that is how you know she does not know anything about your case. Very dishonest and not trustworthy or knowledgeable Frankly, one of the laziest attorneys I have ever encountered. I was billed for services never rendered or performed, and she refused to provide any support documentation in the hearing, and got awarded pay for non performance. I hired another attorney who has dealt with her, and one of the first things they stated when they found out about Zocolo's involvement in our case, was how he despised working with someone so incompetent and lazy. Everything I am writing can be supported.

Lori helped me with a difficult partnership agreement. She did a great job of understanding the issues, advising me of the different options and then bringing the negotiation to a satisfactory resolution. She was extremely responsive. She understood that my goal was to resolve things amicably and always kept the goal in mind. I very much enjoyed working with her and would recommend her to anyone.

  • Excellent attorney, I only wish all were as good as her.....

Atty. Zocolo was assigned as the attorney for my child in what another attorney had previously described as "the worst custody case they heard of in all their years of practice". She was dedicated, through, courageous and ethical, and I feel she represented my daughter's best interests well given the parameters. I only wish that all the attorneys I hired for myself had been as good.... it took me three different attorneys until I found one who was both competent and honest and I could trust (and that included one who ended up being disbarred for embezzling funds from clients, including me). Having dealt with numerous attorneys, I would recommend Atty Zocolo as I believe she would show the same dedication and assertiveness on behalf of a client as she did in protecting a child she was assigned by the court to represent.

Just as a piece of advice in general to those reading the review, if you feel your attorney is NOT representing you well, find another attorney. I was afraid of being labeled a problem or nutjob for switching attorneys too frequently (as typically those who are nutjobs refuse to accept advice and bounce from attorney to attorney) and stayed with an attorney who was an absolute nightmare to deal with, refusing to meet with me, dismissing me, not following up on issues and he did not even bother to begin discovery or send out interrogatories until I found out he had not done so when I delivered 4 legal totes full of the records requested by the other side to his office. There are lawyers of all abilities, and although the first two I hired (the disbarred one had a regional reputation and was with a blue chip firm, the other was very well known in the area, neither one served me well and my worst memories of this so-called "worst custody case" was trying to deal with the second attorney and his behaviors and arrogance. And that is really saying something given the case. If you do not feel comfortable with your attorney, FIND ANOTHER. Don't second guess yourself like I did and stick with them in hopes they will come through. Once rulings are made, they are not reversed. Those initial rulings are the foundation you will have to live with over the remaining time, and like the foundation of a house, repairs are problematic after the house is completed.... I am still going to court, and things are slowly getting corrected, but it has been 6 years and numerous actions to get closer to where it should have started off at initially. Unfortunately for me, one attorney would ask for more money to do discovery and never did it and the 2nd one was more interested in mocking me and insisting I read a book called "Tuesdays with Morrie" than in helping me protect my child. I was in a vulnerable place and was almost pushed over the edge by that jerk. Fortunately, once Atty Zocolo was assigned by the court, she began actions to protect my child, and since that was what I had been begging the "Morrie" fan to do without success, I began to become less panicked. But again, my advice to anyone who has a difficult case, be prepared to find another attorney if you are not being served well by your current one AND get yourself a good psychologist. You will need one, and generally a psychologist is cheaper by the hour than an attorney and may be covered by insurance. The system will push you to the edge of a breakdown, and if you are escaping a nightmare (and many people are to that point when they file divorce and custody) you are already psychically injured. If you are the perp in the whole family dysfunction (and most perpetrators THINK they are the victim) getting help from a psychologist will also help you, your case and most importantly your children. Either way, a good psychologist will help you focus on appropriate and proportionate responses and THAT will help your attorney help you. Otherwise you will be venting about your hurt feelings to the attorney at $200 per hour and the real issues may get lost.

I have recommended Lori to several family members who all have nothing but good things to say about her services. We are currently using her services for our fourth case (Domestic Issues with Ex-Husband, Child Support, Custody), and she has and is handling everything in our best interest as well as the best interest of our children.

Lori was hired for a divorce case to replace an attorney who worked harder at setting low expectations than getting the job done. We were thousands of dollars out of pocket before we found Lori. Lori delivered above our expectations with results and time to resolution and her budgetary figures were almost exact. She was timely, organized and knew very well what would work and how to get to our goals. Along the way she was a great coach keeping our spirits up. We talk often about our success with Lori and how fortunate we were that she was referred our way.

Lori is easy to talk with, and she was able to get the necessary information for my will, POA, etc., from me through conversation - I am generally intimidated by lawyers, and I don't have that response to her. She was prompt with the paperwork, and took care of all of the filings. so that I didn't have to worry about them. I would recommend anyone to her.
