We met Anna Parise outside the Ashtabula County Juvenile Court where Children’s Services and others were going to decide the fate of our granddaughter. We had been caring for her since she was 2 months old at the bequest of Children’s Services. Nonetheless, we were not allowed into the courtroom af...ter all we had done and had been through. Anna, as our attorney, went into the courtroom and arranged for us to sit in the periphery of the room. Somewhat later, Anna stood and announced that we would be contesting placement of Sophia with both her father and mother because they were unfit. You could have heard a pin drop. Working in concert with Anna, we eventually gained full custody of Sophia and we have maintained custody to this day. All along the way, Anna has been there for us, and we trust she will be there with us as a reliable guide, one who knows the territory, in the challenges ahead.
