Joan Jacobs Thomas

I hired Joan for my divorce/parentage nightmare. My ex husband made our divorce horrible every step of the 19 month ordeal. Sometimes I felt so lost and deflated, but after talking with Joan I would feel so much better. Joan, together with an awesome GAL, worked hard to get me a better outcome than I... could've ever imagined. Joan is truly amazing!

A friend reluctantly gave me Joan's number after her divorce, saying she was terrible about returning phone calls. Boy, she wasn't kidding! My case was a little more complicated, so more calls were needed (though not an unreasonavble amount), and over a year of working with her it rarely took less th...an a week or two and multiple attempts to get a call back. When I got fed up and switched attorneys, the next one told me that I'd spent my retainer on no work. Nothing had been accomplished. The new attorney said Joan's approach to the case was all wrong, and sure enough the new attorney's approach was successful: Divorced with a better outcome than Joan predicted. Joan means well and likes to hug her clients, but I didn't need hugs, I needed a capable attorney. Oh, and she refused to believe that she was bad about returning calls and often got important case details wrong. Awful.

Hired JJT in 2009 based on a friends referral. Met with me, understood my financial situation, took the retainer. Told me "I can't afford to have her call me back"..seriously, those were her words. I had a guardian ad litem assigned to my kids, which is something I had never even heard of..kind of wo...uld have expected to get the heads up on that from my LAWYER! She also QUIT my case about a week before we went into court! That left me to either start over, with even less money, or allow my husband of 25 years to have his lawyer, a family friend, to type up our mediation..and change everything that was actually agreed upon to what was better financially for my ex. If you are thinking about using JJT, please run the other way & take your money with you. She kept mine & did exactly no work. Jim Reardon was my Ex's attorney..that guy actually seems to know what he is doing.
