Philip Monroe Collins

Philip M. Collins has over forty years of experience in litigation, negotiations, and legal counseling/consultations. Throughout his forty-two years of practicing law in central Ohio, Mr. Collins has successfully represented thousands of clients in a wide variety of matters ranging from small consultations to multi-million dollar claims. A sample of representative matters includes the following:

• Represented the fiduciary in a wrongful death action stemming from a semi truck collision, resulting in $4,250,000 in recovery
• Complex construction litigation resulting in recovery to decedent's surviving spouse in excess of $2,000,000
• Personal injury settlement without filing litigation, resulting in recovery in excess of $1,700,000
• Represented family and estate in survival personal injury claim that resulted in recovery of more than $900,000
• Complex corporate fraud litigation in the context of a probate estate resulting in benefti to client in excess of $1,300,000
• Probate litigation over missing/embezzled assets resulting in recovery of nearly $500,000 of estate assets
• Represented Plaintiff in jury trial resulting in $200,000 verdict for false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress
• Formation of corporations and limited liability companies, including drafting of operating agreement and code of regulations
• Negotiation of commercial lease agreements
• Negotiations of the termination of commercial lease agreements
• Negotiated the termiation of a purchase agreement for a liquor license
• Drafted wills and trusts
• Successfully protected employee in internal affairs hearing/investigation
• Assisted several non-profit companies obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS
• Represented minority owner in negotiated disengagement from a condominium association
• Several cases involving the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) regarding multi-state child custody jurisdiction matters
• Countless domestic relations matters including divorce, dissolution, legal separation, child custody, support modification, property division, and parenting matters - largest divorce case involved marital estate exceeding $26,000,000

App., 1991); Kostrevski v. Kostrevski, 1993 Ohio App. LEXIS 3430 (10th Dist. Ct. App. 1993); Millar v Beacon Ins. Co., 64 Ohio St. 3d 96 (1992). 

Mr. Collins completed his undergraduate degree at Ohio University and received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1973. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Collins was an officer in the Ohio National Guard, was an Administrative Assistant to United States Congressman Clarence Miller, and served a term as a board member on the ADAMH Board of Franklin County.

Mr. Collins is licensed to practice in Ohio and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Collins is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Franklin County Trial Lawyers Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and Columbus Bar Association. 

Mr. Collins enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, hiking, traveling, automobile racing, playing competitive ice hockey, and reading.
