John Andrew Gambill

MR. GAMILL was hired to represent an elder in a case against a family member for financial exploitation. He was paid a retainer fee of $1,500. He stated he felt the case was very strong in the elder's favor. He was told this needed to be started right away because of the age and health of his client.... After not hearing from Mr. Gambill for a month, his office was contacted and a request for a return call was left. When no call was received by the end of another month, the office was contacted again and told we would be picking up the papers that he asked to copy for the elder's case. Then a letter informing Mr. Gambill that we no longer felt he had time for the case and requesting the return of the retainer was prepared. When I got online to get the office address, his website said "OFFICE CLOSED". MR. GAMBILL HAS MOVED TO COLUMBUS, OHIO. The elder was never informed of this move. This time had been wasted. When the papers were picked up from the office ( the day after finding out he had moved) there was a for sale sign on the building!!!!!! The papers Mr. Gambill had asked to keep was the evidence of the financial abuse! We did not have copies! Thank goodness for the lady still working at the office. She was most helpful, and had the papers ready for me when I arrived. The office is 1h and 20 min. from our home. When I opened one of the file folders when I arrived at the house there was a check for the full amount of the retainer, the check was dated a month and a half earlier!, Mr. GAMBILL never notified the elder, no phone call, no letter.
