Billing and communication issues
I began a client-lawyer relationship with Joel Campbell in November 2015. I thought my case was a pretty straightforward Trust dispute. In July 2018 I terminated our relationship and retained another lawyer. There were two primary reasons for this decision; The first was his lack of billing in a time...
The claim of lack of timely billings is disputed. The client received and paid 20 bills for most months from January, 2016, through June, 2018. Each of the bills had an itemized list of services together with a stated time of legal services and a charge for that service. When no legal services were rendered, she received no bills. The claim regarding legal results is also disputed. Both attorney and client had overlooked the lack of an initial engagement letter possibly because the attorney assisted the client in receiving over $144,000 together with an accounting from a family trust in the first six months of representation. The balance of the effort required litigation for which extensive draft pleadings, correspondence and plans were routinely shared as in typical legal proceedings. The attorney routinely cautioned the client on the risk, cost and delay of full litigation, but she chose to further proceed. The deposition draft questions were for internal use in preparation and were not to be used literally in the questioning of the deponent at a yet to be scheduled deposition. The attorney has no objection to the termination of representation from the client and wishes her well in her further proceedings.
"Mr. Campbell is one of the most highly respected attorneys in Central Ohio. His practical sensibilities and experience truly set him apart. He is particularly skilled in matters of business litigation and divorce. Highly recommend Mr. Campbell."
"I endorse this lawyer. Joel Campbell is an outstanding domestic relations practioner. He is highly knowldegable, experienced and ethical. Joel's a credit to the profession."
"I endorse this lawyer. That is not even close! Joel is head and shoulders above the rest of the bar. He is the best Guardian-ad-litem...period! He settles cases fairly and quickly and has never let a case drag on forever causing frustration for both lawyers and litigants. He is also great on the other side of a case and before the court. The Judges and fellow lawyers hold him in very high regard. Hire the guy...he's that good. (Even if he disagrees with me, he is always the gentleman.)"
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Cambell has always been at the highest level of competence and professionalism."
