you get what you pay for
I first went to David because his price was lower than most other divorce attorneys. I needed him for a couple other issues including a divorce and he claimed he could help me. I quickly realized that he was incompetent at his job. He advised me to plead guilty to a charge that I did not commit ...

Incompetent Atty
He represented me in a self defence case in Pickerington. He worked out a deal with the Prosecutor and told me to plead guilty to assault and I would just get non-reporting probation for 12 mos and "No problem after 12 mos we will just get it expunged" His total incompetance lead to this extremely mi...

Rude and Poor Communication
First of all, front office person Ginger was rude and short on the phone when trying to discuss billed invoice. Fees were not explained in detail upon first meeting. $30 per email was not explained until after the fact. Very poor communication. Would not recommend due to how I was treated by the ...
I am sorry this client feels this way. First, I explained by retainer to the client and the fees for emails are clearly mentioned. Secondly, this was not for just 1 email, but several to the prosecutor. Third, I bill monthly, so to wait a long time to question charges until after the case is over it unfair. In the grand scheme, the client ended up with a great result and an overall extremely reasonable bill, in my opinion. The total fees were even discounted or not billed throughout the case. Regarding my staff, she was not rude as I was in the office and overheard her conversation with the client. I would have been happy to talk with the client personally, but this was declined. Finally, thank you for being a valued client and I am happy I was able to get you a great result. Best wishes from Shaver Law.

I cannot imagine going through my trials without them. Reasonable billing too, especially phone consultations and email communications. He...
"I highly recommend Mr. Shaver for your family law needs. He has demonstrated a high degree of excellence to meet your legal needs."
"I've known Mr. Shaver for many years and have had cases with him on the other side numerous times. I know he gets involved in other areas, but my contact with him is exclusively in the area of family law. The one thing I always know when Dave is on the other side is that his client is going to effectively represented whether through negotiation or in the courtroom."

Publicly Reprimanded issued in OH, 2009
updated on 12/22/2014Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.
“This was a public reprimand. I was moving my office and the people who were helping put some client files in a trash can rather than move the files from y old office to storage. There was not any intentional misconduct on my part. The Court issued a public reprimand and noted my years of public service as a mitigating factor. This certainly is not something that would occur ever again as I have changed my best practice to shred documents.”
