My representation is prepared. It is aggressive. It gets respect, and it gets results.
For nearly 24 years, I have defended individuals and businesses in federal and white collar criminal matters, business litigation, administrative law, and investigations. My federal criminal defense practice covers the full range of matters, from drug trafficking and firearms offenses to complex fraud, money laundering and sex offenses, as well as post-conviction litigation such as restitution and supervised release issues, and compassionate release. I also routinely represent clients who are the target or subject of a government investigation, well before any charges are filed.
My background in complex civil litigation gives me an advantage in cases involving sophisticated financial, regulatory, or business records, and I am not intimidated by complicated facts or technical arguments. I have extensive experience as a partner at a large firm, but I do not rely on a team of associates to get the work done. For nearly two decades, I have worked routinely in federal courts as a federal public defender and as a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. I am a familiar, respected presence in both districts, known for thorough preparation and for leaving clients confident that nothing has been missed and no better deal was left unpursued.
My clients come first, before worrying about taking up the court's time, or making judges or prosecutors mad. I build close relationships with my clients and follow their lead. I do not leave the details to the government. I am here to tell your story and make sure your side is represented. I pride myself on staying current on changes in the law, sentencing trends, and programming opportunities, both before and after your case is resolved. That commitment extends to every stage of a case, including the ones too often treated as a formality.
Federal pretrial detention is one example. It is far more complex than many attorneys treat it. Too many clients waive their detention hearing because their lawyer does not want to risk losing, being embarrassed, or annoying the prosecutor or judge. I am well versed in this critically important area and do not take that shortcut.
