DUI
Receive dui, hired Eric Bates attorney. The court offered a plea deal, and without looking at it, he said take it. I still had to serve time in jail. If he couldn't help with the sentencing, he should have refunded some of my money. If you have a license in another state and get a DUI in Kentucky, do...
I am certainly sorry that you were not happy with the results you received in your case. I wonder if you have me confused with someone else or if this is not a real review. In my 20 years of practice, I have NEVER told someone to take a plea "without looking at it." I don't normally even suggest someone should take a plea. We discuss the options and the likelihood of winning at trial. It is up to the client to decide whether to take a plea. I would only recommend pleading guilty when the facts suggest that the client would be found guilty and would face harsher treatment. Indeed, I cannot tell every client what will happen to their out-of-state license upon a plea to a DUI in Kentucky. It is up to each state to decide. Before taking a DUI plea I tell my clients with out-of-state licenses to check with the Department of Transportation or a lawyer in their home state to get an idea of the likely results.
"I have seen Eric Bates go to bat time and again for his clients. He is well respected by both his peers and clients. Any client would be well served by retaining Mr. Bates."
