I am a divorced mom of a wonderful daughter living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I enjoy pets, reading, listening to public radio and TED Talks, watching streaming tv shows, movies, and documentaries. I love to spend time with my daughter and adjust my work schedule to care for her when possible. I like to meet new people and have fun, enlightening, and entertaining conversations with those around me. I love living on the Mississippi Coast - I live in a paradise many wish they are able to visit. I do not judge or discriminate about anyone for anything - race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual identity, age, nationality, or any other factor, personally or professionally. I have friends from many kinds of backgrounds and cherish each of them.
I grew up in the Saucier and Wiggins, Mississippi areas and have family in Stone County, Mississippi. I attended college in Starkville at Mississippi State University and earned double B.S. degrees in biochemistry and microbiology. I attended graduate school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson pursuing a master's degree in medical microbiology. While pursuing my graduate studies, I worked part-time assisting attorneys. I enjoyed the work so much that I decided to attend Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi.
I enjoy being a family lawyer and helping my clients through what are often some of the most difficult times of their lives. I strive to be fair, kind, attentive, compassionate and provide knowledgeable, specialized, personal service to my clients. I look forward to helping you with your legal matter.

Worst Experience Ever
I hired Rita Silin for a child custody case. In the beginning she was extremely helpful, kept in contact every other day, and even worked with me on a payment schedule. However, once I made my final payment, she disappeared and has not responded to any emails, calls, or formal letters asking about an...

She don't do what she's told
Rita was my lawyer for divorce, she always told me to come to court then would have hearings telling me not to show. While Rita was retained as my lawyer she would not represent me in a dv charge from my ex. I had my ex for contempt several times and she failed to file motion for contempt and a motio...
I am sorry this client perceives his experience with me in this way. I spent a lot of time and effort on his case. The things he listed are not the way I represent my clients. I always try to communicate with my clients and inform them of court dates via any route of communication I have with them, be it email, text, or telephone call. Sometimes clients, such as this one, do not give me current phone numbers or email addresses and do not respond to correspondence sent via U.S. Mail. I have NEVER refused to defend a family law client in a domestic violence case if I was retained to do so. If a client truly has legal grounds for contempt and expresses a desire to pursue it, I will do so as long as I am retained and paid as agreed. If I gave advice regarding visitation, it was because there was a legal basis for that decision. This client states "she don't do what she's told" but fails to state that often an attorney cannot "do what she's told" for a legal or ethical reason, as occurred in his case. This client leaves out a lot about his situation and the reasons I had for the decisions I made. I ultimately had to withdraw from his case because he lied to me about several important facts as well as failed to make any sort of payment on his bill for almost a year while expecting me to continue to work for him.

Best Attorney on the Gulf Coast
I could not have asked for better representation. Ms Silin helped me through a very rough custody battle with logic, compassion, knowledge of the law, and determination to stay the course. Since my hearing I have recommended several people to Ms Silin and I will continue to recommend her to anyon...

Fearless Lifesaver
Rita took excellent care with every detail of my child custody case. She paid careful attention to every word in any documents, kept in constant contact with opposing counsel and was always attentive to any new thoughts or concerns I would have, even at the spur of the moment. I don't know what I wou...
