Misty Dawn Becker

In February 2025, I hired this firm for a family matter and paid a $4,500 retainer via Affirm. Less than 24 hours later, I canceled services. Mr. Becker responded to my cancellation and confirmed a refund would be issued, minus minimal charges. No refund was ever processed. I later received a bill... for $535.25—including a $222.75 “transaction fee” I never agreed to and which wasn’t properly disclosed. I’ve now filed complaints with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Attorney General’s Office. Be very cautious. What was already a stressful situation turned into a financial burden I’m still fighting to resolve. I wish I’d never contacted this firm.

My daughter recently retained Mrs Becker for custody and where child would start school. Mrs Becker is very knowledgeable and very professional. Mrs. Becker fought hard for my daughter and she was very pleased with the outcome. I I highly recommend Mrs. Becker to anyone needing a family law attorney.... Thank you Mrs Becker and also a big shout-out to Monica for all her hard work. Y'all are the best!!!

I reached out to the Becker Law firm back in June and, as per the email response, paid a $100 consultation fee and scheduled a meeting in July. After the meeting, I agreed to hire them for a simple family mediation case for $1200. I told Misty Becker that I would have to pay in installments, as I sch...ool was starting back up and I'd need to be able to take care of my middle schooler's supplies and clothes. She informed me that as long as the payments were made within 30 days, I'd be fine and she would begin the case as soon as the last payment hit. I made sure that I made the deadline and waited for a response. When August rolled around, I was concerned because I hadn't heard an update but understood, so I reached out to see what progress was made. At first, Misty claimed that she had COVID, which was understandable. But then the next month (September), after it being 2 months, when I FINALLY heard back from Misty, she claimed that she'd never received my last $200 payment. I sent her a screenshot of, not only the receipt that HER OFFICE sent me right after I made the payment, but also a screenshot of my bank account showing every single transaction that I made with them. I didn't hear back from Misty for WEEKS. In fact, I hadn't heard back from her email EXCEPT to send me invoices showing that I wasn't paid up. After a while, I reached out and suggested that maybe I should get another lawyer, as she was not fulfilling the agreement that we had and, as I wanted this matter to be done with before the end of the year to avoid holidays, we were pushing deadlines. Rather than email me back, Misty had someone in her office (Monica) reach out to me to inform me that, somehow, this illustrious 20+ year law firm was having email trouble. This wouldn't have been a problem, if I hadn't been calling at least once a week to try to get someone on the phone. Of course, no one ever called back. Monica requested the same information regarding the $200 be sent to her, as Misty claims she never received it. I sent the exact same information to Monica and then never heard from her for a week. Come October, I received an invoice stating that I STILL had not paid and, after that, decided that I was done dealing with them. I demanded my refund and told them that I would be taking my own separate legal actions if I did not get my money back. Miraculously...Misty's email managed to work. I was billed for the time I spent emailing Monica and was not issued a full refund. At this point I really don't care. My only concern is making sure that EVERYONE knows what a terrible law firm Becker Law Firm is. I'll be reporting them to the Tennessee Bar Association as well as the Better Business Bureau. It may not do much, and honestly I'm not expecting them to protect one of their own. But I DO know that others need to know that they need to stay away from this office. I wish I'd have done my homework thoroughly on them before because this whole stealing people's money and missing deadlines is apparently their MO. They're TRASH!
