Daniel Glen Cossey

Daniel G. Cossey is a personal injury attorney dedicated to working on behalf of those who have suffered physical and financial injuries due to the negligence of others. He chose a career in law to make a measurable difference in the lives of those who entrust him with the responsibility and privilege of representing them.

Mr. Cossey, a Memphis native, graduated from the University of Memphis, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and achieved cum laude recognition. During this time he wrote articles for the school’s newspaper, was awarded the Frank R. Ahlgren Journalism Scholarship, and chose an academic concentration in writing, where he developed skills that he uses today on behalf of his clients.

After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, he enrolled in the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law with the goal of becoming a personal injury attorney. While earning his Juris Doctor degree, he earned the Dean’s Award for Excellence for Best-Written Brief, the Dean’s Award for Excellence for Oral Advocacy, and the Donald & Susan Polden Scholarship.

Mr. Cossey, along with a classmate, competed in the law school’s court competitions. As a result, they became the Champions of the law school’s moot court competition and the school’s mock trial competition. Additionally, Mr. Cossey was awarded the honor of Best Advocate in both of these competitions. The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law later chose Mr. Cossey to represent the school on both its Moot Court Board and its National Appellate Advocacy Competition Travel Team.

Upon graduation from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Mr. Cossey successfully sat for bar exams in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. He now represents clients in each of these states. He has since been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star by Law & Politics magazine in 2014, 2015, and 2016, a distinction received by no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in each state.

Mr. Cossey handles many types of personal injury cases but particularly enjoys assisting clients who have suffered traumatic injuries. He enjoys representing these clients both to assist them in their most severe time of need and to work to resolve the unique challenges that their cases often present.

In addition to enjoying the practice of law, Mr. Cossey is a life-long appreciator of many types of music and has amassed a sizable collection of musical recordings. This collection is as diverse as it is large, but contains more recordings of his favorite artist, Bruce Springsteen, than any other.

Mr. Cossey is also an amateur musician who plays guitar for enjoyment. He appreciates instruments from many eras, but has a particular interest in electric guitar. In his personal collection, he's most proud of the 1960’s-era instruments he's acquired.

In keeping with his interest in journalism, Mr. Cossey also enjoys monitoring current events and has a particular interest in reading about American political history.
