When I was initially contacted by this firm, their e-mail to me was very misleading and appeared to infer that Betz and Baril was the only avenue that I could maintain my claimant status with the Payment Card Settlement action. This fact has been verified by responses from the Payment Card Settlemen...t claimant . representative, including the following reaction from them: "Class Counsel raised concerns about Betz & Baril's marketing materials, suggesting they contained false and misleading information, particularly regarding the timing and amount of potential payouts”. Also it was stated: "Betz & Baril may continue to engage in misleading conduct. Class Counsel respectfully suggest that the firm should, at the least, be barred from any additional work related to the action and be required to send – at its expense – a communication agreed to by Class Counsel to all merchants that have signed up with the firm that alerts the clients to their right to cancel their contract and file a claim on their own due to the firm’s misleading and false statements.” These allegations are found in the District Court of New York as r Case 1:05-md-01720-MKB-JAM Document 9444 Filed 09/27/24. It appears that I entered into a very misleading contract as shown in the above communication. It appears that Betz and Baril have not provided a reputable response to any of these accusations. I might add the Betz and Baril were asked to notify merchants (see above) who were affected by their actions above. I have never received any further communication from this firm by e-mail or any other source. Betz and Baril continue to ignore my claim, I have e-mailed and called them a number of times and they refuse to answer my e-mails or calls..

I hired this firm to file an SSDI claim. I was wounded in Afghanistan and eligible for expedited SSDI claims processing. In attempting to communicate this to the staff representatives when I filed my claim and in subsequent phone conversations. I was told the firm was not familiar with the Wounded Wa...rrior expedited process and I would need to handle that myself. In an effort to explain the provision the lady I spoke with identified herself as an attorney but then refused to answer my question and passed me off the a supervisor. I informed him that she had identified herself as an attorney and was rather rude. He assured me she had not identified herself as attorney when clearly she had. The end of the conversation was the same. I would need to handle my situation directly with the SSA and the firm could not help me. If you are veteran/wounded warrior I would be very cautious about engaging this firm.

In January of 2014 My wife of 32 years was taken from us in a crash caused by another driver turning left into my Wife's lane of travel. After contacting the firm of Ogle, Elrod and Baril, Jason Baril came to my home in Kingsport Tn. and assured me that he would handle the case HIMSELF and immediate...ly file a wrongful death lawsuit against the opposing driver's insurance company. After waiting a week, I called their office and learned my case had been handed off to a "Rookie" that had been with the firm for one and a half years and whose specialty was family law. Jason promised me an accident reconstruction report would be done immediately when at my house the day after the crash. Every time I tried to contact Mr. Baril I was transferred to a voice mail system, my calls were never returned and no lawsuit was ever filed as promised! There was no accident reconstruction report ever performed, only a roadway assessment of the intersection and it was seven months before any engineers ever showed up on the site of the crash. Upon handing my case to the "rookie lawyer" She did not file a lawsuit but instead started negotiations with the insurance company of the opposing driver that caused the crash. Anybody with a brain knows that if a suit isn't filed an insurance company doesn't have to divulge how much coverage is there! This firm did nothing I asked. Had they done what I asked, The opposing driver would have been indicted by a Grand Jury on Vehicular Homicide charges, but the other driver walked away scot-free to possibly cause another fatal crash! later! This law firm is INEPT at what they claim they will do for you and I wouldn't hire them to do a Divorce case, much less a Wrongful death action! I would not recommend this firm for any legal action you may encounter! They are only interested in making a quick settlement and moving on to the next case. These people will not fight for you or your loved ones, They are settlers!
