Holly Nicole Human

When I originally interviewed Mrs Human I felt good about the prospect of her representing my case. There were some 'red flags' that I chose to overlook which, in hindsight, I regret. First of all, she is 'between' offices apparently as she uses another attorney's office in downtown Knoxville that ...she isnt even affiliated with. Meanwhile her firm's address is a location in west Knoxville. And this location isnt an office but instead what looks like a residential storage building at the end of a dead end street. When I agreed to retain Mrs. Human I was instructed to take a check to this building and drop it in the mailbox. There wasnt anyone there to even provide me with a receipt which was extremely sketchy. Also, dont expect to hear from Mrs. Human in a timely manner when you email or call. On average, it would take 2 or 3 business days for her to get back with me. What she is timely on is not just billing you for her services but requiring that you pay IN ADVANCE for any court appearances after your initial retainer has been used. She would liberally estimate how much time she was going to be in court and require that I have a check for her BEFORE court. All of the fore mentioned annoyances were mistakenly overlooked as I had faith that the value proposition would be evident in the courtroom. Not even close. Over the couse of 5 months we spent hours corresponding via email and discussing the hearing via in person meetings. There was a clear plan and set of evidenciary items that were going to be covered by her in court during our scheduled hearing. On the day of the hearing she failed to cover any of the main points or ask myself (while on the stand) or the other side key questions that were paramount to our case - questions that we had actually prepped for. She completely lost track of what our approach was going to be and started going off on odd tangents that were irrelevant to our case! What's worse is that while she was mindlessly opining during a cross examination, I gave her a message asking that she 'get on point' and ask the questions that we had prepared for. She leaned over and said NO...to me, her client while in court! She then stated that she was taking a different aporoach thus ignoring her client's instructions. If I had to do it all over again I would have dismissed her as my attorney right there on the spot. She also made other egregious errors such as getting dates wrong and asking questions of the court that would not have been necessary is she had better prepared for the hearing. Her representation was so bad that the other litigants were literally laughing and I was genuinely ebarrassed for having retained her. If you want someone that can effectively litigate then I highly recommend that you look elsewhere.

Nicole is an amazing attorney who truly cares about her clients. She walked me through my divorce process and provided expert advice in a very professional and efficient manner. She was there for me every step of the way. I would highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for an attorney in Family Law....
