John J. Hollins, Jr. represented me in my divorce for well over a year and the case is still dragging on. His fees are among some of the highest in Nashville and I used to believe that his high fees must equal high quality. Boy was I wrong; I have been disappointed by Mr. Hollins, Jr. over and over again.
Even though John Hollins, Jr. is supposed to be my advocate, he appeared to be advocating for my opponent on virtually every one of dozens of issues. What's more, countless of my emails and phone calls to him went unanswered, even the ones in which I addressed urgent safety concerns of my children. John Hollins, Jr. talks big and promises lots but he seldom if ever delivers.
If you want a lawyer who is going to consistently negotiate in a way that benefits your opponent then look no farther than John Hollins Jr. My friend, the late Brian Ward, filed a $50 million lawsuit in 2016 against John Hollins Jr., his ex-partner and his former law firm, Hollins, Raybin & Weissman for legal malpractice. Among other things, Brian alleged he lost his securities dealer license and $500,000 because of the horrible advice he received from Mr. Hollins and Mr. Raybin (see case 16C180 in the Davidson County judicial district court at Nashville, TN). I feel extremely sad for Brian. If I did not have a similar experience (albeit not nearly as severe) with John Hollins, Jr. I would not have believed that Mr. Hollins is capable of such ineptitude.
In summary, when it comes to legal services from John Hollins, Jr., I paid a ton of money just to have Mr. Hollins talk big but in reality, sit on his hands and did nothing to move my case along. His method of negotiation clearly indicates that he never has my best interests in mind; I am only glad that I have had the presence of mind to question his judgment and even his motives. My opinion is that John Hollins, Jr. is all about himself and the billable hours he can exploit from your bank account. His work leaves a whole, whole lot to be desired.
My best decision thus far in my divorce case is to hire an attorney other than John Hollins, Jr. My replacement attorney has, in a tiny fraction of the time, has run circles around Mr. Hollins. If you are in the market for a family attorney, please do your due diligence and hire someone who literally has the opposite traits of Mr. Hollins.
