Believe the reviews

I've never written a negative review on anyone or anything, but I know how difficult even the most simple disagreements can be during or after a divorce. With that in mind, I feel compelled to write this because I can't stand the thought of someone having to go through what I went through with Jonath...an Pippin. First of all, as another reviewer said, you will be charged for your "free consultation". Also agree that he uses the "there's plenty of time for that" on a regular basis. And ditto on the response time - consistently ridiculous. Chronically asked for delivery items last-minute which would send me scrambling, only to later find that he wouldn't even submit them to my ex-spouse's attorney in time. One thing he is good at - and he's brilliant - is taking a meeting with you to calm you down and renew your confidence. This guy promises everything and does nothing. That is not an exagerration. But be warned, he has a calm, warm and reassuring manner that goes against the stereotypical attorney and he can sell you in a second. Do not hire him. You will only be adding more chaos during a time that's already plenty tough enough. Good luck to you.

After I hired him, he billed me $200 for his "free consultation"

Took my $3000 retainer, then once he had the money made a practice of putting everything on hold indefinitely. Seldom responded to emails or phone calls. Constantly said he would do something on my case, then wouldn't do it despite repeated requests. He waited till October 20 to email me a multi-pa...ge, very detailed 'Discovery' questionnaire sent to him by the opposing lawyer on September 30, giving me only days to complete it....and then would not file Discovery papers for me on the opposition (he continually put it off, saying "there is plenty of time for that"...and it never got done). I asked for Mediation. For three months he said he would set it up...never did. With the trial date only weeks away (and no evidence of any "preparation" on his part), I was finally forced to give up on him and retain (and pay) another lawyer to pick up the pieces.

No Communication

I used Jonathan Pippin as my attorney is a custody and child support dispute. The low score on "trustworthy" is based on the fact that he would tell me that he would respond the next day or would work on my case the next day, but did not keep his word. The low score on "responsive" is based on the fa...ct that it would take him 2 or 3 weeks to respond to most communication. Often, the late responses resulted I missing deadlines. The low score on "knowledgeable" is based on the fact that he was provided with 3 yrs of communication between me and my ex, 3 yrs of medical, school and sports information on my child and 3 yrs of calendars on our visitation and he did not know details of my case when he finally met with me 2 days before our court date. He also did not make recommendations, only told me that he didn't see anything unreasonable in my request. The low score on "kept me informed" is based on the fact that I would ask questions and get no response. When he finally met with me, he said he didn't tell me things my ex was asking for or claiming because he knew it would upset me. In court, he ended up doing a mediation with my ex's attorney behind closed doors walking back to me with information then going back to the other attorney. This went on for about 5 hrs then came out and told me that the judge wanted me to give in to my ex on a most of the items even though she didn't see or hear anything about the case except what he and the other attorney told her. I never got to talk to the judge and no information was presented. When I asked if I had to settle for what he told me since I never got my actual time in court, he told me that we could request another court date if I wanted to spend several thousand more in attorney fees. 3 wks have passed since the court date and he has not: returned a single message, returned my W2s that he held onto so he could copy them, returned my flash drives that contained 3 yrs of information, contacted me about court papers, or made any contact with me at all.
