Kathryn Gentle was born and raised in Mountain Brook, Alabama. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama, Kathryn went on to complete her legal studies at the University of Alabama School of Law.

After law school, Kathryn became licensed to practice law in Georgia, where she resided for several years. Thereafter, Kathryn lived in Detroit, Michigan and Bend, Oregon. After going through her own divorce, Kathryn moved back to her hometown in Alabama. She dedicated her practice to tax resolution and was determined to gain the understanding and experience necessary to become a skilled family law attorney. Having gone through her own divorce, Kathryn understands the emotional and financial issues families experience when dealing with these types of issues. That experience was paramount in establishing the way that she handles divorce and family law cases by understanding that each client and family is different, and their needs should always be considered when determining the best course of action for their case.

For 19 years, Kathryn has been devoted to helping clients navigate emotional and stressful situations perpetuated by tax liability, divorce, and family law issues. Kathryn has customized her practice not only to resolving debts with the I.R.S. and state taxing authorities, but also to assisting individuals with issues pertaining to divorce, separation, custody, visitation, relocation, support, asset protection and division, domestic violence, modifications, enforcement, grandparents rights, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and appeals. Her tax experience and knowledge has become a key skill in resolving complex cases regarding division of assets with high martial estates and locating hidden assets.

In May of 2019, Kathryn became of Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an elite group of highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. Kathryn has had intensive training in the art of Family Law Advocacy Skills at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado, has been recognized by Birmingham Magazine and B-Metro Magazine as a “Top Attorney” for the past 6 years, is licensed to practice law in Alabama and Georgia, and is also licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys being outdoors, Alabama football, and spending time with her son Smith, her stepson Nathan, and her husband Scot.

Tax attorney the best
Kathryn is THE BEST when it involves back taxes. The entire process, which was more than a nightmare to my specifics, she handled so professionally and without question from the IRS. She truly saved my life with this matter and I've already recommended her to others in this situation. Anyone in the position (and this was extreme), do NOT hesitate to discuss your situation with her. She knows the tax code and how to handle any situations one might have and you will truly be satisfied with her results. There are not enough stars to rate Kathryn and her expertise. I sincerely than you for giving me my life back..

Kathryn was extremely knowledgeable, efficient but also understanding and compassionate. I know I would not have received the same service anywhere else and would recommend her to anyone seeking legal advice.

Kathryn Crawford review
Kathryn always responds quickly to any question or development in our case. She has been very patient with her explanations of our situation. I know that she has gone above and beyond what any other lawyer would have done. I would strongly recommend and have recommended her services to many other potential clients with the same type of problems that we have.

Kathryn Gentle
Kathryn was my divorce attorney. I am happy with her thoughts and ideas about the process and financial settlement. The financial part was difficult because my ex didn't want to pay anything. Kathryn was able to get me what I feel was a fair deal.

Tax issues resolved.
I and my company have had two opportunities to work with Kathryn. I ran afoul of the IRS and she helped to get me through the minefield associated with dealing with the IRS. She helped me to set up a payment arrangement that I could afford and the installment agreement will be completed in a few months. A few years later, my husband and I would up filing bankruptcy and she helped keep the installment agreement in force and was able to stop any further collection efforts. Not only do I consider her a good lawyer, she always had time to reassure me and explain what was going on with my case.
