Ernest Clayton Hornsby Jr.

Attorney Clay Hornsby has been practicing with Morris Haynes Attorneys at Law for 22 years. He returned to the firm in 2020 after serving as Deputy Director of the Alabama Law Institute where he identified areas of Alabama law that were archaic, contradictory, and/or confusing. He worked with selected attorneys, professors, and judges to update, simplify, modernize, and amend these areas by amending statutes and proposing laws to the Alabama Legislature for passage. Clay also served as a coach for the University of Alabama’s Trial Advocacy Competition team which competed around the country in mock trials. These experiences have provided him with a broad knowledge of the law as well as the practical trial experience to better help evaluate and represent clients more effectively in court.
