Wonderful, honest, no-nonsence man

I came to this atttorney and his law firm in tears and financial strain. My daughter's father had decided that after five years, he was going to take my daughter for the weekend and not give her back. He had been in her life very sparingly up ontu then. A year before, he got a new girlfriend and was ...ordered to pay child support, which did not obviously sit well with either of them. Not only did we have to get the police involved, but because we were never married, and his name was on her birth certificate, he legally did not have to return her to me. The following day I was served full custody papers, after not seeing my daughter for over 6 days and having no idea where she was. WIthin 10 minutes into our first consultaion with Kris, he had their attorney Robyn Hudson on the phone, agreeing to return my daughter within 4 hours. Ms. Hudson had obviously not checked into any of her clients allegations because there were multiple lies and false statements on her original custody papers, which can and will be proven, as well as continuous false statements on almost every documents they file. Mr. Vanderlaan has been quick to pick all this out and ease my mind about the chaos that has suddenly entered our lives. He is even helping me out by letting me pay him in payments, for up to a year ago, I was a single mom, working as a waitress at a restaraunt with no child support trying to get by. This attorney is a terrific person, compassionate, understanding, willing to listen, authoritive, knows his laws, and fights for what is right. It is clear that he hates to see people and children being taken advantage of. He does not back down and is not intimidated at false allegations or other attorney's "games"-he is straightforward and fights for his clients as if he were fighting for his own children. I would recommend this attorney to anyone in Tavares, especially those fighting against Robyn Hudson, because he seems to be able to put her in her place within 10 seconds of a phone call. Everyone who works for Rohe law are excellent, well trained people who genuinely care about you and your case and will work exceptionally hard for you whenever you need it. Mr. Vanderlaan's paralegal, Susan, is also fabulous, very well informed,organized,on time, and intelligent. She handles her job with dignity and grace and has a very commanding presence. If you are looking for an attorney or law firm to represent you-look no further, if you want the best, than you have found them. Good luck with your case, I know that I can sleep much better at night knowing my child's future is in such well-qualified,well-educated, and honest people. This firm and my attorney was an answer to my prayers.

Not on my side even though he was my lawyer

Hired Vanderlaan to help settle a 11.5 year old judgement . Spent 20 minutes on his office talking to him. I came with copies of all the pertinent information including old court records. He assured me that he could get my judgement down substantially . He then wrote a letter to the lawyers of the c...ollection company. A month went buy with no correspondence from Vanderlaan. I finally received a letter from him basically copying what the collection company's response was. I had to beg for the original letter he had sent to the collection company. They wanted the full amount or they wanted two years tax returns, 2 months bank statements and 3 months pay stubs to decide if they would settle for less. I called to ask what the next step was . Did I need to meet with Vanderlaan again ? I left two messages and two texts with no response. Finally on the third call I got ahold of the secretary and she said he would call me back . He didn't but the secretary did , she stated that Vanderlaan said unless I provide all the information to the collection company or pay the full amount there was nothing more he could do . So he charge me $300 an hour of which he worked 20 minutes ( I'm sure the secretary typed the 2 letters) . But the worst part was the fact he absolutely did not help me and was not on my side AT ALL. I felt like he was working for the collection company even though I was the one that paid him. I sure hope other people will be very careful before they give this so called lawyer one penny. I feel like I would have gotten better use of $300 if I just donated it to a charity than give it to this crook . I don't suggest using this lawyer, don't trust him and don't think he will ever be on your side .
