Last year, we adopted a little girl from another state. While any adoption requires an enormous amount of paperwork and legal involvement, it is even more so with interstate adoptions. Fortunately, we had Paul Consbruck as our adoption attorney. The adoption of our little angel involved no less ...than five agencies across two states. While interstate adoption is by no means uncommon, you wouldn’t have known that by the issues that arose during our adoption with the various agencies. At times, it seemed that none of the agencies knew what the others were doing, but worse than that is their failure to pick up the phone and find out. This is where Paul came in. He pressed the agencies to get them moving. He knew what part of the adoption each agency was responsible for, and worked diligently to get them to do their job. He pursued them tirelessly through phone calls, emails and snail mail to get the process completed. Paul’s persistence really paid off, and our little angel came home to us last summer, and the adoption was finalized six months later. Paul was instrumental in each part of the process. But even more than all of that, Paul was compassionate with our situation. He treated us not just as clients, but as good friends, even though we had only known him for a short while. He kept us up to date regarding where we were at each step of the way, and what still had to be done, and let us know what we could do from our end to push it along faster.
