I founded Rob Robinson Attorney P.A. in 2020 after 31 years of practicing law in Sarasota’s oldest and most prestigious law firms. It was my desire to establish a legal home for my clients where I can provide personalized service, responsiveness, and high-quality legal counsel. Many clients face a dilemma when choosing between a big firm and a small one. As a solo practitioner, I can ensure that your legal matters are handled with individualized care and attention.

I made the decision to open my own firm so that I could bring my extensive expertise and knowledge in local government and land use issues to work for you. I will be an effective advocate for you and your property rights and will guide you as we navigate the complex regulatory process from the plat and subdivision approval process all the way to final certificate of occupancy. I successfully have obtained variances and conditional uses for my clients. Additionally, I served for 14 years as the legal counsel to a municipality—sitting on the other side of the table. These diverse experiences have provided me with special knowledge and legal proficiency in the areas of local government and land use law and have earned me the honor to be designated by the Florida Bar as Board Certified in City, County and Local Government Law.

I have unwavering dedication to serving my clients with excellence and integrity. My understanding of labor and employment law litigation gives me a unique ability to counsel both public and private clients with legal challenges. I have been involved in numerous arbitrations and administrative hearings on behalf of clients in the field of public labor and employment law. I also have counseled clients through a variety of multifaceted issues including collective bargaining proceedings, impasse proceedings, grievances, termination, workplace discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Additionally, I value the integrity of your workplace and will be an effective and resourceful counselor for general human resource issues.

Many times, representing you means presenting your case before a trial court or on to a higher appellate court. I am able to offer my clients the talents and skills of strong courtroom advocacy as well as effective appellate advocacy. I have tried both jury and non-jury cases in commercial matters as well as personal injury torts. In the field of appellate practice, I have represented clients before all five Florida District Courts of Appeals and the Florida Supreme Court. I have handled appeals and argued over 50 appellate matters with 18 published decisions.

My credentials and experience combine to make me an effective advocate for your legal needs. My professional affiliations include both the Florida Bar and the Georgia Bar. I also am admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. While my practice is focused in the Sarasota area, I also have represented clients throughout Florida and Georgia.

I am a Florida native born in Lake Wales and a proud first-generation college graduate. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stetson University in 1986—where I met my wife. We both went on to graduate with our Juris Doctorate Degree in 1989 from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law. I welcomed the opportunity to return to her hometown of Sarasota where we began our family and legal journeys.

I believe strongly in giving back and have dedicated significant service to our wounded, injured and ill veterans through the Operation Second Chance organization. I also have enjoyed coaching youth soccer. Outside the office, I appreciate all the amenities Sarasota has to offer — from the white sandy beaches to the conservation park reserves that protect the natural areas surrounding our beautiful community. Our home lies among the mesic hammocks and pine flatwoods of eastern Sarasota County where we have raised three children. In my spare time I am an avid sportsman and enjoy fishing, scuba diving, and a round of clay target practice at Knights Trail Range.
